This is the e-mail I sent to CMA asking if I would be able to get a new pad or if I was stuck with the one I have:
----------------------------------------
I have been using a CMA white foam pad for my Porter Cable machine and it fell apart.
I have been using the Porter Cable on speeds set at 5 and once in a while I have it set on 6. I do not apply any pressure because I am just using 3M Swirl Mark Remover for weaker jobs. I have used the pad for a total of 5 maybe 7 jobs at most. I used the pad last weekend in the shade (it was 70 degrees outside) and the foam seperated itself for the velcro backing. When I looked at the pad it was literally smoking and hot to the touch. I did however use that pad for 4+ hours non stop, I still have it un washed so I could show you. I did not change the pad because it was not gunked up with product yet, it was still working perfect.
Up until now I have never had a problem with your products but it seems there may be a fault with this one specific pad. I was never informed that I could only use a pad for a specific amount of time or at a specific speed for a set amount of time. I just thought I would use the pad until it needed to be swapped. There was no indication that the pad had to be swapped until it was too late.
--------------------------------
What do you guys think, I was never told to use the pad in a specific way and I was not over using it because it didn't need to be swapped out. I would THINK I should get a new one...
Just a little peice of advice for you guys, if your going to use those pad's at high speeds, don't use it for more than 2 hours before swapping it out. If you ask me you don't even want the foam to get warm nevermind hot because over time it will weaken the glue.
