Christmas Gift To My Father....17 Hour Labor of Love

Super job! Your dad should be proud. It is great to see the resurrection of daily drivers. Not all of us have garage queens to show off. You sir, have done what most of us here strive for.:bow That gift sure as heck beats socks, ties, and sweaters. Plus, your dad can show off and brag on you by just driving around.

Fantastic work, fantastic intentions... put a smile on my face....

I would be very proud to drive my vehicle after my son detailed it to the level you did...

You better beleive I'd be bringing people out to my truck, showing it to them with a big ole' smile while saying "yup, my son did this":bigups

The truck looks really nice. When you wet sand like that, what are the chances of those areas having clear coat failure in the future due to the wetsanding?

A true Labor of love from Son to Dad! Awesome write-up and the sanding part shows a true detailer at his craft! It looks awesome and bet your Dad was very happy to see it! now how about yours? i know it's about time for a detail on it soon.....Great work and write up Josh!..........:bow .................Angelo

I agree, this post is inspirational. Gives me pause for thought as to me trying to do some wet sanding on my own daily driven Black truck. I commend your reasons for the detail as well as your accomplishment on this detail.

Thanks, that's kind of what I was hoping for. It's weird not have a gift you can give that isn't under the tree with a bow on it and all.

Motorcity, thanks for the compliments.

Weekendwarrior, I would say any clear coat failure on any vehicle would typically show up well before 5 years. I don't believe or have any evidence or logic to believe wetsanding can cause clear coat failure, I would think it would have more to do with defects in the actual chemical make up of the clear coat or a spotty job appling the CC.

I have also wetsanded my own personal truck (the very last F150 in all those pics with the black headlights) and that was 8 months ago and I have absolutely no issues at all with the areas I've sanded in the CC. Actually I took out a spot that was showing signs of CC failure and that blemish has not come back at all.

Thanks Angelo, he did like it, it's like a new truck for him now. My bro even called me and told me how great it looked, I wasn't expecting that.:2thumbs:

I wish I could take every car to this level.

Thanks, I was glad I could do something great for my Dad. Dad's are way underappreciated IMHO.;)

Jean Paul, thank, he was.:2thumbs:

Howareb, he did like it, I just got it to him before the sun went down so he got to see it in the sun with no swirls and all the scratches completely gone.:woohoo:

I'm glad you can take a joke, JOSH. My Explorer is a mess right now, snow, ice, salt.........but it cleans up very well and is massively protected!!!!

I always get people thinking my cars should always be perfect, I don't get paid to keep my cars perfect, in addition isn't it always the plumbers homes with all the leaks, the roofers with all the leaks, the carpenters always under partial construction, and the detailers always in need of a wash or being used a labratory for various lsp, polishes and cleaners.....on the verge of clear coat faliure from massive polshing experiments.

Cheers,

GREG
