Chenille MF wash mitt?

I have used that type mitt...not the cobra one but one like it...may have been a Euro brand or Micro Works brand..but looks exactly the same....

I like them...they hold a lot of wash solution and rinse clean in the rinse bucket as I see alot of the grit in the bottom...

I just found them this year at Autozone I believe or maybe Pep Boys...I bought one to try out and like it and grabbed a few more..under $5.00

I use these or my wool mitts..I bought a bunch of wool mitts last winter when wal mart was blowing them out at the end of the season for 1.99 ..so I grabbed 15 of the better feeling ones out of the big box full...

In comparison to each..I say the perform very close alike..never seen any added marring from the use of the MF mitt..the MF strands are very thick and plush..and close to 2 inches long...and they are machine washable..a plus...I washed a wool mitt in the machine and it ripped at the thumb seam and shedded after..so they just get hosed rinsed and hung to dry...

Final thoughts on it....Yes they work for me...worth the 5.00 spent

I bought ones just like that from WalMart. It looks exacty like that one Autogeek offers but a different color (Blue). I forget who the mfgr is but i think i still have the packaging...will check when i get a chance.

I've used it once so far and i like it. To me it's not such a big difference than using my sheepswool mitt but some have their preferences.

The next thing i would like to try them out on is with ONR / QEW type washes as i do not like using sheepskin mitts for this as they just get too dirty for me.

They are made out of microfiber and are very soft. The strands hold alot of soap and water and glide across the paint without marring. :) It is a quality alternative to sheep skin wash mitts.

Doesn't ONR recommend using a MF towel for the cleaning as well as the final wipe?
My first thought is that the MF Chenille mitt would hold too much ONR solution.
Maybe a deep pile MF wash mitt would work better.
Hey, try it and let everyone know.

Hmm, i thought holding more solution was key with ONR ? I know thats why it worked well with wool mitts. But then again it worked good with a thick pile microfiber towel too. Anyway, I will try it this weekend with the MF Chenille mitt and report back.

Great! Then we will have first hand information rather than my guess.
I have no idea what the key is with ONR since I haven't used it yet. When I used QEW, I used a chenille covered sponge with good results, but it seemed to me that the chenille MF mitt might soak up 1/2 the solution when it was dipped into the bucket.
It's just my thought and lots of my ideas get shot down in actual practice.:)

That's exactly what I use with ONR when the truck is especially dirty. I think it works great because the design seems to give the dirt a place to go, it appears to let go of the grit easy enough in the rinse bucket, and the sponge inside holds enough solution to keep a "wet edge" if that makes any sense.
When the truck is dirty like this, I like to use exta solution to keep things really wet and flowing. Takes more time to dry, but not much.

To clarify my above post, I guess I don't use exactly the same thing...I use the MF Chenile sponge, not the mitt, but I'd assume they would work similar.

Sorry.

Given that Krodad has used the MF chenille sponge with good results, it will be interesting to see if what your impression of the MF chenille mitt will be.

FWIW, when I was using QEW, I used a cotton chenille covered sponge with good results.

The microfiber will hold more soap solution, but I can't see it releasing the dirt as well as cotton or wool unless you are using it on very light dirt. Heavy grime or mud I think would clog up the mf chenille

This is an old thread from December of 2006, but I don't remember seeing mg031's comments after trying the MF chenille mitt with the ONR.
I see mg031 is on-line tonight and thought he might comment on what he experienced with the MFCM.

It's mostly just curiosity on my part now since I have been having good luck using a sea sponge with DP 4 in 1 Rinseless Wash.

Yes, i am here CharlesW !!! .... i just dose off at the computer sometimes...:crazy2:

Sorry, i completely forgot about reporting back to this thread especially as i don't really post much...

I still use the Chenille MF mitt as well as a thick pile MF mitt and the usual wool mitt for washing though i really prefer the chenille MF specifically for ONR or rinsless washes.. not just for how well it works vs any other mitt but really because i find that it works much cleaner for me in that i don't end up with water all over the garage floor. I like how it releases dirt in the bucket better IMO. Also, the wool mitt tends to dirty up quite a bit more durning a rinsless wash vs. traditional washing. I like to save the wool for the bucket washes. I toss the MF mitts in the wash with my other MF towels and they clean up without issue.

Not sure if this really makes any sense but for me this is what i prefer.

You should post more. Your information is both unbiased and helpful.

Great just what I need, an excuse to buy another wash mitt. I just recently found another new cotton chenille mitt to go with the five other new and unused mitts I have on the shelf. :wall
I have never used a MF mitt or towel for washing, but I did find that the cotton chenille covered sponge was really dirty after a 4 in 1 wash. That makes me question if it is releasing the dirt into the bucket like I think the sea sponge does.
I think I might show some restraint for a change and not buy the MF chenille mitt. (Yet.)

Makes sense to me which can be scary, but the important thing is that it works for you. :)

CharlesW, thank you:thanks Hopefully i can be usefull around here when i can with my experiences. You have plenty of interesting and usefull posts that we all can appreciate.:bigups

The cotton chenille mitt does appear really dirty after using it with a rinsless, ONR, 4 in 1, QEW, and for me it doesn't really seem to release the dirt as easy as a MF one but proof enough that this sort of solution works if you cannot do a regular wash.

So how do you like the Sea Sponge? Now another one i would like to try out.

I keep hearing about these and the grout sponges. Does anyone else have any feedback that they can give for either? The grout sponges are supposed to be ideal for an ONR wash, and cheap too!
