Charlie's Soap

I see there hasn't been any discussion about Charlie's Soap sincce 2001. Is anyone still using it?

It was from that old discussion that I first heard about it. It sounded pretty good so I thought I'd try it. I ordered a gallon of the liquid Laundry Soap and a gallon of the APC. I had some MF towels that needed washing so I decided to wait for Charlie's Soap to arrive. It arrived yesterday. It's too cold to do anything outside right now so I haven't tried the APC yet. I washed the MF's with the liquid Laundry Soap and they came out VERY nice. I still used the vinegar rinse out of habit, but I don't think it's really needed and will wash without it next time. You use one ounce per washer load so it is pretty economical.

My wife has been complaining about the smell of her clothes using the Tide HE. We have the new HE front loader so we have to use a low sudsing soap/detergent. She doesn't like the vinegar smell either. <sheesh!> Oh well.;) So I washed a load of t-shirts and stuff that she wears close to her nose. :D They came out very clean, soft and odor free. I'm really quite impressed. No vinegar rinse either and not needed. There appeared to be no or very low suds. I couldn't see any.

Steve,

Thanks for bringing this up! I've been looking for a replacement for SONUS WunderWasche because I wash my MF at least once a week (some are for household cleaning as well) and the price is giving me a headache. Roughly 16 loads for $10 isn't very economical and so I did a search for Charlie's and it turned up quite a few good recommendations. The pricing on the website looks very economical! I'd definitely be interesting in hearing how the APC works.

It's funny that you bring this up. I actually saw this soap advertised on QVC about two months ago, and was trying to remember the name of it to tell someone about it, and couldn't. I, too, would like to hear how it works.

I just called them because I had a brainfull of questions to ask.:)

Before I get into that, there is a Windows Media shortcut right in the center of their homepage just above the big YAHOO logo. If you listen to that it tells the story and mentions their entry onto QVC.

Anyway, my wife says she wants her carpet cleaned so I'm thinking about Charlies APC/Soap and wondering....:idea They said the APC would work great using HALF the called for amount in a carpet machine. They said their Win Dixie stores rent carpet cleaning machines and sell more Charlies APC than the machine branded stuff. So cool! :up They gave me some usage recommendations. Auto interiors, 1:3; carpet spot cleaning, a capful in a 500ML spray bottle, Etc. They are working on updating their site and will be putting up various usage instructions. I suggested they also put their bottle label up as a PDF file too. They also said it would be very good as a strip-all prep for a new detailing job.

I was asked where had I heard of them from and I told them I had heard of them from an old thread here at Autopia. He was surprised. He said they are VERY heavily into MF usage and that it is well tested on that kind of cloth.

I intend to order a 5-gallon size for use here at work for cars and shop use. It's just SO economical compared to everything else in its class.

I'll be back with more reports as I find more uses for it.:wavey

Funny y'all talkin about this. I ordered a gallon of liquid laundry soap this week for MF washing, among other things. Cost me $22.56 shipped. I had good luck with it when I tried it about 2 years ago but never used it to wash MF's. I'll try it tonight and report results.
