CG's Detail Spray & Waterless Carwash

Conditions:

It's nice and sunny here in LA with an occasional breeze coming through. The subject cars are both covered in dust that has been rained on so the dust has turned to dirt. First car is my wife's '95 Legend that is a light green color and it currently wearing SG. It hasn't been washed or wiped down in nearly 2 weeks. Second car is my '98 Integra that is usually covered and kept clean at all times. It has been uncovered for the last couple weeks and subject to the same conditions as the first car. Oh yeah, it's black and was recently polished with the Menzerna polishes(FPII and 85RD) and a coat of FMJ. It has been maintained with S&W and on occasion Menzerna Acrylic Spray.

How I used it:

I put the product into a pump spray bottle and applied it to the surface. The surface was then gently wiped with one of Meguiar's new Supreme MF towels and then turned for the final wipe.

Results:

The Detail Spray removed all of the dirt and left the paint with a rich sparkle that seemed to highlight the metallic on both cars. The first car with its lighter color really seems to show the metallic more so than the darker car. The product provides to lubricate the surface well and allow for a long wipe time if desired and wipes clean even on the rather warm surface (it's mid 70's here today).

My thoughts:

I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. It has definitely added something to the surface and is very easy to use. The dirt transfers to the towel very well without causing and visible marring to the surface on either the lighter paint or the HONDA black paint. I'm truly impressed and will likely try the other synthetic detail spray/clay lube once it is in stock(supposed to be Wednesday).

IMO, this product provides better surface lubrication than S&W and leaves a nicer finish also. They seem to be products with slightly different missions however as this spray says that it contains carnauba and S&W claims to leave nothing behind but a clean surface.

You can get some of this stuff here.

Thanks for the review. It's nice to know this CGs stuff is worth having. To bad the CGs thread was closed. If you want to try some polsih, shoot me a PM.

Wow..very interesting. It looks like the product is like Spray and Wipe and Spray and Gloss rolled up into one.

It seems to have the cleaning ability of S&W but has more wipe time and is slicker than S&G. After I read your post, I had to go outside and try it side by side with S&G to make sure.

I can tell you this about the towels, they ARE NOT the Eurow towels or similar. They are not a really plush towel either. From what I've seen on the site, there are some much more plush towels but I haven't seen those.

edit: I just clicked and saw that you're talking about the thicker towel. If I get a chance to go back on Wednesday I will see if they are in stock.

That's a question I can't answer. They didn't have any of the towels in stock but are expecting them to arrive by Wednesday. If I have time I will swing by and see if they do actually come in.

What's the product interest?

SpoiledMan,

If you get a chance, checkout the new bright yellow MFs they have and report back, thanks.

IMHO the CG MF's are very average, I purchased 24 of them. They are a 70/30 mix but they are not very plush. I do like that they are avilable in different colors; I like to color code, buckets, MF's etc. for use on interior, exterior, wheels, paint etc.

I 've used these to remove sealents etc. with no problems but I prefer to use a MF which is more plush than these for most uses. I do use them for wheels, metal trim, beds, interiors, glass etc.

Overall on the CG MF's, not a bad buy, but nothing to get too excited about.

Just my 2 cents....

Spoiled Man, if you are interested in trading some other CG's products for a sample of the spray and wash product, PM me :)

Not sure if anyone is interested but I e-mailed Chemical Guy about samples yesterday and recieved a reply today. Basically they said that for a limited time they would sell 16 oz's of any of their products for $10 plus shipping. At this point I'm not really sure if it's worth spending $10 for 16 oz of a product that's $21 for 128 oz. What do you guys think?

For me it would depend on what product it was. One of the more expensive products might merit this but something you can get a gallon of for a few bucks more I'd probably go ahead and get the gallon. You could probably save on shipping if you ordered a few products which would help that out a little. Which product you interested in?

Will do Mike. As I stated before, this is a product that I like. I think it has a permanent place in my arsenal. Do you have All Guard X?

SpioledMan, I guess your right. right now I'm thinking of trying out the air freshners (watermelon and new car), the ReVive glaze, Smartlube, Butterwax and the Extreme Synthetic. I already have more products than I could possible ever use up so it's hard to justify getting a gallon of something that I may not even like (not to mention risking my life if the wife finds out LOL).
