On the news:

Despite numerous claims from Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson that he had received a "full scholarship" to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point -- including a mention in his best-selling memoir "Gifted Hands" -- Carson never even applied for admission to the academy, Carson's campaign confirmed to CBS News.

Campaign spokesperson Doug Watts said in a statement, that though Carson's "Senior [ROTC] Commander was in touch with West Point and told Dr. Carson he could get in, Dr. Carson did not seek admission."

What gets me is that people actually like to fact these novels written by politicians...Not the first, not the last, and in the club with Brian Williams.
 
I usually avoid political threads but I have nothing but the highest respect for West Point. My dad was a West Point graduate and lead a MP unit there, and it's my birthplace. I love visiting. I have a ton of pictures on an old hard drive I'll have to find.

Last time I checked, fabricating military stories is a big no-no, and this is full of grade A material.

Carson has made honesty a cornerstone of his campaign. He's made a claim that he's not like Obama, Hillary, or Dan Rather, that he tells the truth. In effect he's said he's different and better. If it turns out he's no different, then he's certainly not better, maybe even worse for having made a dishonest claim.

They all say things that make whatever they want to sell look better. Some will argue they cannot handle the truth (for politiical reasons) so misinformation is acceptable.

Did Hillary tell someone privately something different than the public story? I am sure and expect it. I expect the same from any politician trying to control the political message.

You really should look in to this for your self this is very fresh in the news right now..
you may find the American media has put a political hit on him..
Good time for you all to see just how well they have been able to pull the wool over your eyes..

We know both sides are looking for dirt on the other candidates to leak to the press. Never underestimate the greed of the media to milk any controversy. I think Hiliiary's skeletons are mostly out there. The GOP is likely saving it for the election.

Politico is interesting in stirring the pot and when you are on top you are a target. I think Dems would want to run against Carson rather than Rubio or Bush.

Agreed on most of it, but it's more than a target, it's shaping the election.
 
Like any news story, give this one time to simmer and settle down.

If he lied then shame on him, yet ALL politicians lie. The test is to see what one does when caught in a lie. Do they continue to lie, do they cover up and hide or do they face it and admit the wrong?

What I find amazing is the difference in how the media treats a black Republican/Conservative Presidental canidate and a Democratic/Liberal black President

Look at how Condeleza Rice was portrayed by the main stream, v Hillary as Secretary of State.

What "gets me" is people trust the news these days. I swear there's more spin in the media then me, 3 feet of snow and an empty parking lot...


The media will try an put who ever the lead republican is, in the ground, always. Half the stuff I do see is meaningless BS that most 13 year olds surpass easily on a weekly basis. It never gets old.
 
You know, I just don't think anybody running is worth a darn. The dems have a lying font runner and a commie, and the republicans have a circus. New Zealand baby, if I could just win the lottery I would be there in a week!
