Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning by GSRstilez

Just a note:

I have been taking an MF towel and wetting it with the mixture and using it to clean car interiors, vinyl rubber etc. followed by a damp MF, seems to work very well. I also got brave and used it on leather today and it worked no ill effects. This is a big time saver.

From the leather experts I've had contact with, using anything other than a dedicated leather cleaner on leather is NOT good. Basically, the leather is too fragile compared to synthetic fibers and will best be maintained with a cleaner that nourishes - or at least doesn't deplete - the leather itself.

I've used Lexol and been relatively happy with it, but I hear good things about the Townsend Leather products.

Yeah, 6 parts water, 1 part Woolite has been pretty much an Autopia standard for a while. The lexol cleaner sucks at cleaning, but its gentle. I found Meguiar's Rich Aloe Leather Cleaner to work really well but it took more time than the water/woolite.

Ok I read through the whole thread and let me make sure I understand the process. Spray mats and interior with 303 for heavy spot/stains. Use a mix of APC and Hi temp protein mix to as a cleaning solution brush interior, then extract with the LGM.

Am I using the LGM to spray hot water at any time or just to extract?

This is the part throwing me off please explain?

Thanks great write up for a good carpet cleaning without dropping some serious coin!:xyxthumbs

Has anyone found a Woolite/Water mix that is safe for using with the LGCM? I have read that it is supposed to foam like a mofo upon extraction, but with such good cleaning ability I would like to know if there is a dilution that is safe to use. I just used the Bissell solution that came with my little green, and it worked wonders on the carpets in my house, and worked on the car upholstery too.

A quick way to clean fabric seats and carpets , if you can stand the smell in ammonia and water, 1 cup of ammonia to 1 gallon of water. Dunk in a terry towel , ring out, wipe fabric , then wipe with a dry towel, done. You will be amazed on how clean your interior will be. When ammonia dries it pulls out all the oders. You need no extracter, only a couple of towels and the solution. Ive used it many times, and for a weekend detailer it workes great , but a pro.useing it all the time , the ammonia would get to him. Use clear ammonia as it doesent leave any residue in the fabric.
