Can't wait to try this LSP

Forza Auto Salon
Finally received my Optimum Opti-Coat in the mail. I'm picking up my new company car (2010 Ford Fusion) and plan on testing this product in multiple ways.

*1/2 the car (paint/glass/trim/wheels) will be coated for comparison purposes (gloss/swirls/beading)

*Wet sand as much Orange Peel from the entire factory Hood as possible (UV protection test ala heat)

*Nothing but Dawn dishwashing detergent will be used to wash with on a bi-monthly basis

*Parked Outside (S. Florida)

Vent once a month or what-it explodes? I bet that stuff has some type of toxic base if it smells that strong-did it have a hazardous shipping label?

It says strong ammonia odor on the tube.

Good question. I threw the box out and didn't look or notice one.

David, I didn't think you got to excited over LSP'S?

I don't, but this one is making me think otherwise. If it works (and stands up to the test) it will definately have it's place in certain applications.

Nice, how'd you score some? Do you have a PTG? Would be interesting to see how it layers over bare metal.

I've had really good results with it so far. Very slick, amazing beading, glossy and wet look. Great for resealing headlights after restoration.

Does it last 3 full years? Haven't had it long enough to know but it look promising. Anthony Orosco knows more about it than anyone else so he'd be the one to ask about long term protection and durability.

How long have you had it on Scott? Any difference in characteristics since initial application?

Awesome.... I've been waiting for someone of David's caliber to try this stuff out and review it. Subscribed.

I'm gonna try to do a thorough thread to document my findings with quarterly updates. :2thumbs:

They must package it like that to make me confront my fears of syringes. :)

Good luck with it! Keep the info flowing

On my own car, it began to bead more loosely at around 8 months, but I didn't prep the paint prior to applying it (I'd been waxing my car every 2nd/3rd wash for 14 months prior to application), and the version I had at the time was in a spray bottle that was 3 months old and had been opened a few times-plus the sprayer had clogged and I had to take off the top and apply it to an MF applicator that way. It was definitely a spur of the moment application, my original intention was to try it on the mirrors and front bumper. I liked the look so much I put it on my entire car.

The beading was amazing. Before application, my nearly 7 year old (at the time) factory paint job would bead, but somewhat loosely, no matter what product I used. With the coating, the beads were tight and round as if I had new paint. This video was shot at around the 8 week point:

I have it on a couple customers cars. One uses ONR, the other washes his conventionally. I also have it on my parent's cars and my Dad uses ONR occasionally, most of the time he uses a hose and car wash soap. I'm monitoring all 4 to see how the coating holds up on them. All were much better prepped than my car (two were polished, one was brand new with no dealer prep, the other hadn't been waxed in 2 years) and I used the version of the coating in the syringe.

If you have a Victory Motorcyle dealer in your area, get a package of their 100% Microfiber Wax Applicators, works very well in applying the coating. I got a couple packages from the Victory rep who was visiting Optimum when I passed through Memphis in June and stopped to visit with Doctor G.

But we will get a bias answer from Anthony. I would rather get it from you Scott.

:nixweiss He is the only one I know who's had the coating long enough to know if it really lasts 3 years. I'm pretty sure he tells Doctor G what he needs to hear about products instead of what he wants to hear. Probably why it has taken so long to get market ready.

Anthony isn't someone who exclusively uses Optimum products anyway.
