Can't buff my car out v. drunk driver

Already pulled the brand new Bosch Icon wipers I bought 5 hours before the accident off the car. Not letting $45 wipers go with it. Head unit and rear speakers are coming out and I'm pulling the test pipe and putting the main cat back in.

scott, glad you and your son are okay. that SOB needs to spend some time in jail and pay a HUGE fine (get people in the pocket where it hurts). if there's a few things that i have no patience for it's drunk drivers, and people who talk and/or text while driving...

The individual should lose his license, ideally permanently, but at a minimum for 5+ years (IMO, 10 years is a good amount). People really need to think about their actions when they choose to do things like drink and drive.

Glad to hear you're both mostly fine Scott. Make sure you do the follow-ups with the doc in case either of you have long-term effects.

Holy crap Scott you have had bad luck with your cars. Good to see that you guys seem to be ok.

I'm SO GLAD they didn't hit the passengers side, that would have been major. I think you just get a rental car, save the receipts and bill them don't waste your time waiting for them, your lawyer will tell you best. The thing that sucks, to me, is that pay out for that car is much less than its worth to you.....DDrivers should have to pay for a NEW car as a consequence.

If its any consolation..........that is the shiniest 194K mileage car I've ever seen........ that was totaled!

Just got an estimate from Nationwide, my insurance company on the damages to my car. $18,000.

Still haven't heard back from Farmers about my car, still don't have a rental from them either.

Glad everything is ok healthwise Scott. As my girlfriend just said when I spoke to her about your accident 'it is only metal'.

Glad you and your son are safe. FYI - If you are looking into an Accord V6 (gen 7) -research the Honda forums about their V6 with transmission problems. Good luck..

Scott, get a lawyer engaged. You and your son suffered soft tissue damage and have to deal with the pain. Its also very likely the insurance company will try to pull all sorts of shenanigans if you aren't represented from a legal standpoint. Quite a while ago I got rear ended really hard, had similar injuries and the guy that hit me made up all sorts of lies (said that I was driving backwards on the freeway in the left lane). So many hassles that the lawyers handled, they were worth their weight in gold.

Already have a lawyer, one of my customers owns a chain of law offices. Also have my insurance involved, funny how fast Farmers got back with me when I informed them of that. ;)

Yeah, they respond a lot faster. They will now try to deal with you directly and get it settled ASAP. Just tell them to call your hired gun.

Glad to hear your somewhat ok and your son I hope you get a nice chunk of change from this guy's insurance company. Its amazing when you hear that some drivers have multiple DUIs and are not in prison and are allowed on the road.

Yep, it boggles the mind. So you like to drink, go to the store, get a case, go home and drink the damn thing, stay home until you sober up. How hard is that? I honestly think they should cut off limbs for drunk drivers that cause bodily injury. That's a lot more real than a night in jail and $1000 to some slimy DUI lawyer.

Virginia is so screwed up, speeders, yes that is right, speeders get harsher sentences for going 20+ over than first time drunk drivers.

Glad you're ok man.

I've been in one accident...got rear ended by a drunk

driver doing 50+ while I was sitting at a stop sign.

Totaled my car out. And the person that hit me lived on

that street. Dunno how they forgot about that stop sign...

Hope everything works out for you. Boggles my mind trying

to figure out why people think they're ok to drive in that

condition...

Scott glad to hear you have got an attorney. Insurance companies are under rocks in a pond!! God for bid if you miss a payment, but when you need to file a claim you will wait on them! Watch how fast they snap to action now!! Make sure you get them for your missed work also!!

The problem is his insurance company, not mine. I have Nationwide and they've been nothing but great so far, in less than 24 hours they had an adjuster out to look at my car. He also mentioned that my car was in "showroom" condition. Anyone who has been in my car is amazed at the mileage on it because of how it looks inside and out and also that it runs so well.

yakky-you know what is really bad about that drunk? A friend of his was following him home to "make sure he got there okay". Are you fricking kidding me? How about driving your idiot drunk friend home, you moron.

I greatly appreciate all the concern and well wishes for my son and I, it really means a lot to me. :)

Wow, I am at a loss for words, and that doesn't happen often.

Glad to hear you and your son are fine. If that drunk driver would have hit your passenger side it may have been a completely different story.

Scott, was Arlington PD there? And if they were they let him drive away! Did they give him a field soberity test?

Arlington PD arrested him for DUI and impounded his truck. That piece of crap is refusing to cooperate with his insurance company so they won't do squat for me until they get the police report.

He is in cuffs here and about to be put in the squad car:
