Hi All, Car enthusiast and loyal Mercedes & Audi owner. I just started reviewing cars via youtube & recently posted a video commentary on waterless car wash products.

Someone suggested that I explore Autopia's forums for feedback/ideas.

Anyways, I posted my link-- hoping to get insight on how other Californians keep car clean during our state drought. If you have advice, please share :)

Cut the problem off at the pass...

Correct the paint, then use a semi permanent coating. That wil stop most surfactants from bonding an make Waterless wash far easier. How do I know, the S7 gets wiped down daily, it comes off far easier then the c300 which doesn't have a coating.

Also, a quality atomizer will help get the most out of the little water/mix you can use. Your sprayers are just as important as the product.

Good video, liked the diecast experiment too!
Theirs a shortage of stunning looking females that are into car or car activities over here lol

Go Rinseless...Infinite Use Detail Juice is the best Rinseless from my experience. And ALWAYS use the Garry Dean Wash Method.

Welcome!

I initially tried Optimum No Rinse, but did not like the results. Being in Southern Ca myself, I have been victim of the evil snare from neighbors when I even try to do a quick spray down on my truck. For a while I would quick detail when I could. Most of the time it's too hot during the day (no garage) and by the time it'd be cool enough, I'd be at work starting my 6-2am shift.

My truck ended up going unwashed/cleaned for 6+ months- of which I'm now heavily paying for via suffering paint. I ended up caving in an using a near by self car wash- not 100% sure but I believe the place recycles their water.

Rinseless washes have my interest- but I'm worried it will be like ONR. It just wouldn't get it as clean as I'd like.

Hope you find a worthy solution, I'll keep my eye on this thread. CA is a bad place to have a shiny car these last few years.

There is only one emulsifier I would trust. That is the one and only Dry washnguard, by Enviro-tech. I always keep a quart in my arsenal. They have the ecology bottle and many patents. I have been using it Since 1992 when it was introduced to the public. If you must wash without water, it is the one worth trusting. I only use products I have proved for decades. Here is one of them. Paintxpert Shine Since 1969

@Mudman, I am glad I am driving a silver car right now... My black car would get trashed if I left it dirty too long.

You are right, it has been too hot lately! I feel a completely waterless car wash is not practical; I have to rinse away away the dirt with one good spray-- otherwise the dust particles grind into surface.

Sounds like other people are happy with their rinseless solutions. I'm just cautious to test out.

@ RMD, Thanks for tip... Meguiars is a trusted brand. Good catch on my towel error. lol.

Someone also suggested, that I not use dryer sheets with microfiber towels-- during laundry. Trial & error.

@ The Driver, great tips.. sounds like you know your stuff! A quality atomizer makes sense, I will look more into it. You are right...there probably is a difference in the paint coat on cars.
