Very interesting list Chris and I'm especially glad you like the Euro Shags!!!

I love those bad boys and should have added them to my "boasts" list.

Dang, I thought the title was "busts, boats and everything else" I was psyched to see some chicks hanging off fast boats.....needless to say, I need to learn how to read!:(

I see how you might come by your Screen Id, honestly.

If I allowed my expectations to be set by forum hype, my "busts" list could be extensive. But assessing products by "it worked" or "it did not work" only one product comes to mind 303 Aerospace Cleaner - Industrial Concentrate. This is a cleaner so my assessment comes not from perception of appearance or durability, but by from cleaning performance, or lack thereof in this case. Recommended dilution ratios (and sometimes greater) were used.

Boasts and in-between would be a list (long) of most all of the products I have used over the years. I have had very few that just did not work.

busts, still thinking

doctordon, good point-to a point..
Lets take Klasse AIO/SG, I have been using these products for about ten years and believe that these products are as perfect as can be.

I have found these prouducts to be very-very easy to use, the protection to be incredibly long lasting and the shine to be perfect.

What is perception and what is fact?

"very-very easy to use" I'll dig my heels in and say that this is fact because I think its fair to say that any pro or enthusiast takes as a reference point that easy to use-relative to the product cited-implies that the material goes on quickly and comes off quickly (without any unusual streaking, marring, cloth or pad caking, etc) only 'normal' effort required.

I am only saying here that when someone says that x product was easy to use that I believe we have an understanding of the criteria that was met in order for that statement to have been made.

length of protection, fact again-'we' know when any wax or sealant is still providing protection.

But as for the statement that the 'shine is perfect' here is where I agree that this is determined by 100% perception, the shine that completely satisfies me
may, and probably would, horrify some or many here-ignorance is bliss.

Interesting thread.
It's funny how some people's busts are other people's boasts and vice versa.
Perception is everything.

Couldn't agree more. This game of praising and bashing products is not for me. With all the huge variety of detailing products in the market these days, it really comes down to a matter of personal taste. Find what you like and share it with others. But putting products in the "busts" list is pointless, because what someone might dislike is a perfectly fine product for someone else.

But putting products in the "busts" list is pointless, because what someone might dislike is a perfectly fine product for someone else.

I disagree (in a big way)... but I guess I would since it is my topic. In fact, I think the "busts" area is probably the most important in the realm of detailing... often new products will get hyped, sometime with good reason and sometimes because it is phony buzz (people shilling for their own personal gain).

Or, at other times, newbies to detailing might just think they're doing something wrong, when maybe a product is just not working well. Take my experience with Collinite 476s... tried it numerous times on the recommendation it was "hard as a rock" and I'd have to "chisel it off". Only, I was lucky to get a month out of it but probably much less.

Some have told me they get 6 months out of it and good for them if they do, but that wasn't my experience. When I posted my thoughts on the product, I got at least a 1/2 dozen PM's saying "thanks"... because people found the product didn't work for them either, but thought they "must have" done something wrong.

Knowledge is power, even if it is contradictory. Certainly my opinion on 476s SHOULD NOT be taken as gospel, but just another story in the world of detailing which *might* be useful to someone else.
