Brand new car- (focus ST) products and steps?

Striker- Yeah, a Decon is just washing with the Decon Chemicals, less risk of marring comared to clay IMO.

Sounds like you`re well squared-away on the interior, and I somehow bet it won`t get all that dirty anyhow ;) FWIW, I`d rather use the LeatherMasters cleaner than an APC when it does need cleaned.

I hope not. Even tho the car is hers, I feel responsible for it lol. I may try the Autoglym cleaner. Aparently it gets really great reviews. I found the FK locally....how do you apply the FK...I like things simple. I always used a MF applicator sometimes with a little water to help spread the thin coat. What are your thoughts

Striker- I do fine with the FK1000P just keeping it simple. Foam wax applicator (if you prefer MF I wouldn`t expect any big diffs), dry or *maybe* a little damp with FK425 (though I haven`t done that in ages). Thin *thin* *THIN*, allow to flash off until it passes the finger-swip test. Buff off in two steps- first pass pretty much gets it all, but then I go over it again anyhow while fogging the surface with my breath. Apply another coat after the next regularly-scheduled wash (I`ve had some bad pseudo-holograms when I tried to layer it too soon, never happened if I waited a while).

And, heh heh...yeah... "wife`s car". Accumulatorette has kids in the A8 whenever she visits TN and while they try to be neat and tidy, well...you know how kids can be and we don`t want their memories of her to be all about "the car that had to be kept spotless". She`s really good about how she treats the vehicles, but her passengers can be a different story.

Striker - I`ve done tons of Fords, and generally a DCON process makes the clay not necessary at all. I haven`t needed to clay a new Ford in a long time. I personally use Iron-X for any inorganic stuff on the paint, and they I use Tax-X to remove any organic stuff. After using them both, there`s it`s about as clean as it can be.
If you`re stuck on the lower-cost products, the FK is the only way to go with white. I used Zaino way back in the day, at the FK will give you the same look. If you want to step into some upper-end products, check out the Polish Angel Master Sealant. It`s the easiest thing you`ll ever use.
As mentioned (but it sounds like you might not be interested this time around), coatings exceed any wax or sealant out there. After using quite the range, I like Kamikaze Miyabi for longevity and I prefer Polish Angel Cosmic for looks. If you search, there`s a good thread about a white care with Polish Angel Viking Coat (not as new as Cosmic).
There`s so much new stuff that makes things much easier and better looking at the same time.
For a polish, I used to use Menzerna products...and I just couldn`t take the dusting anymore. I most-recently got some Polish Angel polishes, and they are 100% dust free, have a forever working-time, and work great.
If you can`t tell, I`m an advocate of Polish Angel stuff right now. After hear so many good things, I bought a bunch of stuff, and there`s not one of them that didn`t far exceed my expectations.
Anyhow...good luck on the ST...those are a great looking car.

Thanks fellas. I think i`ll give the FK a go on my Trans Am to see if it has that cartoon like shine on it that ZAINO gave it years ago.

I love her Focus ST to the point that I may get the little brother, the Fiesta ST. Just never drove one.....

Has anyone here used the Pinnacle Paint Coating and Polish? The Pinnacle black series of coatings? My confusion and somewhat frustration is all the products that are out there and I feel like there is a lot of BS for sale because these companies are well aware that guys that love their cars and their weekend "babies" will spend the dough no matter what. SO i`m sitting here trying to figure out whats the real deal and what to stay away from.

Take for instance the black label from pinnacle. There is a cleansing paint product that needs to be applied before applying the black label paint coating.....well what if one has already done a decontamination process---do I still need to spend 60 bucks on the pinnacle cleansing system before using their coating???

Striker- I bet you can already guess my response... Decon it, correct any marring (if it bugs you), do the FK, see what you think.

Am I missing something here? Can`t see why you`re thinking about the Pinnacle stuff. The one tin of FK1000P will last for many years and will protect just fine on a daily driver. If you`re somehow determined to use a coating instead, well... then that`s that, but when I see you questioning that $60 expense I think how that`d buy decades worth of the FK.

No sir. I just wanted some clarification and I appreciate you doing so.

One fella from the UK coated his ST wheels with that stuff and he says the brake dust just washes off now (The ST cars has a torque vector traction control that utilizes the brakes to minimize torque steer.) so the build up is there.

Striker- I wonder how well the FK would work for you on the wheels. I don`t bother coating most of mine because the FK is sufficient, but I can see where that TC system could make you wonder.
