DK....The VW Bug has a very large front surface area of paint. There is no grill. He drives mostly in rural areas here in Central Florida, and like most college kids, probably does a lot of night driving. I'm not sure what kind of bugs (and we have some big bugs down here!) he is getting on the paint surface, but there are some areas that are chipped either from bugs or stones. There are a few areas that, due to negligence, acidic bug guts (or bird poop) have eaten into the paint. I don't know if this can be fixed by a good rotary job of leveling, or if it needs to be wet sanded and repainted. I seriously doubt that any sealant or wax would have protected the car from this kind of abuse/neglect. When I do get it fixed, I am going to see about the Xpel product. I think that is the only thing that could have prevented the bug and stone damage other than a bra.... Even his plasitic lenses on the headlights have significant damage.
The rest of the car was actually looking pretty good with BF even with his unskilled washing habits.
