Black Scion TC + 23yr old college girl = DISASTER! (Lots of pics!)

This car belongs to a friends of mines 23yr old college GF. Yeah.. hot college girl + black car = DISASTER! This car was DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRTY!

Process:

-GC wash.

-Pinnacle Poly Clay + Last Touch lube.

-Sonus Grey Clay + Last Touch for the side skirts.

-Pinnacle pad conditioner, love this stuff!

-PC with Orange LC pad + #80 x 1 pass.

-PC with Beige Megs pad + #26 x 1 pass.

-Megs Hot shine for tires and wheel wells.

-Stoners for glass.

-Megs QD before photos.



The swirls were really not as bad as I thought they would be... and what was there came out rather easily.



After wash and clay.. before polish:

Got to play with a new toy of mine. Dual 1000watt halogen lights... nice tool to highlight paint inperfections. Thanks to a tip here I got it at Sears for $19.99. :bigups

Great turn around and nice selection of products. That car was DIRTY, looks like a completely different car in the afters. :goodjob

Being a fellow tC owner myself, and linked via some mysterious spiritual forces to it, it really pained me to see a tC in such horrible condition! :cry:



I'm glad you were able to turn it around (amazing work, I must say), but we have plenty of these types of girls in tCs around my campus... they treat it like any other "car" and it might just be the same way in about three weeks :(
 
Really nice job cleaning that filthy tC up! The paint looks perfect under the lights. :)



I take it the car is owned by Dana from Arizona?
 
Nice job and nice pics, although the can on the car is a bit risky. Beautiful shot of the sunset in the quarter panel. I hate those tires with all the ribs on the sidewall.

Not quite on the plate thing. Her name is Danae (Da-nay).... and I suppose its supposed to be "Danaes" as in her car? Ill have to ask her, hopefully while getting some pics of her with the car. :2thumbs:



Kinda weird everytime I read about Danase detailing stuff I think about her. :heelclick

Her BF is a really good friend of mine who happens to live across the street. Im going to see if I can get her to do a once a month maintenance dealio... since the car is there all the time anyways. :nixweiss

My g/f has a Nautical Blue tC which I detailed yesterday. I clayed the hood being very careful because I know how soft the clear is on the car but it caused scratching and marring like I couldn't believe. I used very little pressure, a ton of lubrication, and a new piece of clay (Sonus gray medium grade block clay). To say the least I was disappointed with myself because it's not like I am rookie with the claybar. I've clayed many vehicles but never had results like that.



Did you have any issues when claying?? I was going to switch to another clay to try it out and hope that's the issue.

I did a small spot on the hood with the gray Sonus.. then put it away because it was marring horribly. The Pinnacle Poly Clay (yellow) worked fine with a LOT of lube.



I did use the gray on the side skirts though because it was heavily contaminated.

Thanks for the reply! I feel somewhat better now knowing that.



I also noticed you used Meg's #80 (speed glaze) which I would guess has some fillers. Do you think it completely removed the swirling OR removed some and hid some imperfections?
 
Hey how long did it take yo to do the job?



did you charge if so how much?

Ive never done a alcohol/water wipe down after using #80 so I cant comment on if it does or doesnt. However.. here is my take on it. Even if it does remove and at the same time slightly fill minor swirls then thats ok with me. Reason being that even if I was to produce a non-filled swirl free surface you can bet that the first time your customer washes their car they will induce swirls one way or another. Therefore... I guess it doesnt really matter if the ones Im working with are slightly filled and/or completely removed.



Dont get me wrong.. I do want to remove them completely.. and your question has enticed me to go ahead and try a 50/50 wipedown next time I play with #80. Which just might be tomorrow on a Lincoln Mark VIII. :waxing:
 
I'm always amazed to see what #80 and a PC can do! Sometimes I ask myself why I ever stopped using it.
