BFWD vs WGDG

Blackfire white diamond vs Wolfgange paint sealant, anyone every do a side by side. I really like the WGPS, easy on and off, durability is nice and it almost looks like a carnuba. Input?

Both are really great quality, premium class paint sealants. I think at the level it comes down to preference, and I have my bias. I would be interested in hearing other opinions though.

I have BFWD in my possession. Waiting for the spring to apply it. Maybe i should pick up some WGDGPS and do a side by side comparison? I'm sure both are great. Wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't tell the difference.

mwtaco that's exactly what i'm think also. I would still like to try it out though. The WG stuff is pretty darn nice and it would be very hard to improve on it imo.

I love Blackfire but never tried the WG. I traded for a sample of WG at one time and regifted it before using it. Just looking at the product it seemed similar to BF. I have heard no complaints on either and i think it comes to preference as Todd said. Although I believe BF is cheaper and works amazingly. My .02: go with BF.

The Blackfire sealant is 10.00 a bottle cheaper than the Wolfgang paint sealant. Both are 16oz bottles 29.99 verses 39.99.

Strictly my own opinions here, but they seem very similar in use and result.

  • Wolfgang is definitely thicker, my BFWD is on the runny side
  • Wolfgang has a weird scent, but I prefer it to BFWD
  • BFWD is considerably less expensive
  • BFWD might stretch further since it is thinner, but that's just a guess
  • Side by side, I'd be willing to bet 99.999999% of people couldn't tell the difference.
  • Never tried Menz Powerlock, but heard so much about its similarity to BFWD that I'd be interested to see how it does.

Again, these are my opinions comparing the two side by side. Given their similarity, once my WGDGPS is gone, I'll probably stick with BFWD.

I've used Wolfgang since I started detailing several years ago. So far I've not found any products that I like better. They seem to have top quality products no matter which product you get. I've never tried the Blackfire products yet, but will soon. Waiting on a good sale.

I would agree that WG is thicker than BF or PL. PL is almost like water so very easy to use less.

My observations:

WG - like adding a layer of gloss to the paint. It can make paint flaws more obvious to me. It lets your true paint show

PL - look is closer to WG than BF in terms of shine but seems to have better hiding ability

BF - leaves a warmer more complex coating look with better hiding than the others

These were comparisons based upon application to my Dakota.

I have both BFWD and a sample of WGDGPS. I have yet to use the WG though. I will definitely do a 50/50 on the hood of a vehicle as a test.

Cool I've been hoping somebody would. Do you have Fuzion and MS to top them with also?

Yes, I have both WG Fuzion and BF Midnight sun!!! I will defintly add a test section where I top the sealants with there respective Nuba mates... :bigups

I've never done a side by side but I have used both

more than happy to use either one frankly

I guess looks is personal preference. I really find the two to be pretty similar.

HOWEVER I really think BFWD is the easiest sealant to remove that I've dealt with. So if I had to pick one or the other I think blackfire takes it for that reason

regarding price, if you're a smart shopper you will occassionally find a great deal on either product to make it worth your while.

It's interesting to hear some of the comments regarding both products.

Both products are in the sealant category and I'd be curious to see how close the two formulations really are.

I've tried both products and while some may find this odd, I wasn't overly impressed with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant. It went on easy enough but didn't seem to provide the protection I was expecting especially for it's cost.

BlackFire Wet Diamond Sealant was the second BlackFire product I tried and I was impressed with all aspects including the shine and protection.

Cost is a huge factor. Many products, especially Wolfgang and Pinnacle, are overpriced and fail to provide the additional bang for the buck...

Can't wait for the results of this total side by side comparison, should be interesting. All 4 products are top notch from all I've read.

Wow. Great point. Given all things equal, both being great products, price may be the biggest factor. Of course, if you have other WG or BF products, staying in the same family would be nice since the products may work better with each other.

Excellent. I'm also going to keep my out for this comparo. Prediction: They will look the same...beautiful.

Agree. I like to try everything, but cost is one of the reasons I havent tried much WG and Pinnacle products. Lots of other good products with better price points to try first.

I do have some small sample bottles from AG though. Will have to request the WGDGPS.
