Beware of picture stealing

It would seem that someone has a lot of time on their hands to take credit for other people's work. This guy has taken a lot of pictures from a lot of people and I seriously doubt he got permission for them. I know for a fact he didn't ask me before he plucked one off OCDetails.com. I may not have minded if he would have given credit for the work, but since he just decided to swoop in and steal my bandwidth without asking, I feel the need to let other's be aware that their pictures might be on there too. He didn't even bother to link back to Autopia after he ripped off David's pictures of him personally. This guy has class...

Oh, and since it seems most of the text is just cut and pasted from threads on Autopia, you might want to make sure that hasn't been ripped off either. Your posts are your own property and this guy has no right to take credit for it. He talks like he has favorite processes when obviously he is just taking other people's opinions and experience and passing them off as his own.

Well Jngrbrdman, if I am not mistaken, but that member was part of this forum but recently got banned for a few months... with similar names on both sites....

There sure were quite a few pictures that were not given credit for on that site...

Well some of them aren't directly linked, but he downloaded them and uploaded to his photobucket acctount unless that is where the real owners pictures are stolen from too. I see some from BLK Yukon, Autopia, OCDetails, A member from MOL and so on...

Edit- Nevermind... most of the pictures are direct links that were stolen...

The user that posted those pics is Miami Sunset. The one that was banned from here, and I think is now banned form autopia. He really does get a reputation for stepping on toes everywhere he goes.

I think I've pretty much put the final nail in his coffin by quoting the copyright text from Autopia's site. I reported the thread to the admins and asked them to take it down until he gets permission to use my articles in his "detailing bible". lol I also emailed the link to David at Autopia. Does anybody feel like posting the thread over there so everybody can see what their hard work has done for good ole Miami?

David emailed me back. I get the idea that he doesn't appreciate the 'borrowing' of information either.

PS... that site doesn't do email verification. Feel free to register and report the thread. ;)

Guys, I sponsor that forum. Could you do me a favor and not sign up just to flame? I don't want the admins to get any bigger headaches than I've already caused.

What he did was wrong, but I'd like it to be handled in a way that won't cause any more headacches than is needed.

I went ahead and removed my post. I didn't bash him, but I did let him know what he was doing was wrong. The reason for me removing my post was because of the memebers that began to bash me and others for bringing this up. I felt it would be best to just eliminate myself from the whole situation, and let the admin take care of it.

FWIW, His first post does list several sources that he got his information from.

In no way am I defending him and I'm certainly glad he is gone from here, but don't jump on his case for what he didn't do.
He does enough things that are wrong that it isn't necessary at all.

ah... that makes it all ok then. "Yes officer, I saw the speed limit sign, but I didn't figure it applied to me." ;)

I see what you are saying Charles. It would have been far worse for him if he hadn't given any credit at all. However, giving credit for something he didn't even ask permission for is still stealing.

Hey jngrbrdman,

isn't there a way someone can't right click to save or copy a picture? I know there are ways around it, but it would atleast slow them down.

The first post was edited today and it's very likely that the credit lines were added then.
It was suggested in post #25.

Yeah, and I actually had that in effect for awhile, but some scripts like that will interfere with search bots and I didn't want to lose traffic just because I wanted to protect the images. Besides, like you said, it just slows them down. They could always just disable their javascript and get around it. I figured it wasn't worth the effort.
