best sheeting LSP? (Florida heat and rain)

I might be moving to florida and was thinking that with the daily rain florida receives that it would be better to have an LSP that sheets more so than beads. I know this would be likely a sealent but which one sheets the best and lasts the longest?

Thanks

haha daily rain...its been like a drought this year, well in my part of FL in the pan handle hardly rained at all..guess all the rain got used up in the 6 different hurricanes that hit us later year :) I'm not good with sheeting LSP's but just thought I'd drop in and say hey :) I use UPP on a few cars and recently Collinite for a durability factor on a 24/7 outside car..working good so far.

dmxsoulja3, don't jinx yourself! Down here in S. Florida we're into the summer rainy season. If we don't have tropical waves dumping water on us, it's the normal afternoon thunder storms!!! I'm crossing my fingers...

Also, is the recommendation for FK Pink wax for it's sheeting properties or beading?

Sounds like some products bead for some people and sheet for others :nixweiss

FWIW, UPP beads for me, at least until it's lost so much slickness that I redo it anyhow. Same with KSG.

I can't think of anything that sheets that great.

Most everything beads really well and will sheet if you're driving...doesn't do you any good while your car is sitting at work though.

PB EXP is the closest thing I can think of that doesn't really bead so much as it does just kind of sheet (for the most part).

Langman37, I dunno the nature of the rains you get in Florida, but are they thunderstorms? I mean to say that if you have the raining and then no sun, then beading water won't hurt as long as you have protection on the paint. If the rain you're talking about is thunderstorm-like with the sun coming out right after the rain, then I would go with a sealant. Dunno which sealant is best, though...

If you don't mind beading water, then Collinite is the most durable carnauba wax that I've seen. It also beads water very nicely. Of course, if you're looking for sheeting, then Collinite is obviously not what you need.

BTW, maybe you can considering hosing down the car after the rain has stopped. Use the free nozzle method so that you don't have as much water on the surface. Then, either dry by blotting the surface with an absorber/WW, or the best choice: use a leaf blower.

I would have to say, having lived in Florida most of my life, that the majority of the rain in Florida is gonna be followed by pretty strong sun. I would have to agree that not too many products sheet very well. Florida weather is gonna be tough on whatever product you use. A wax or sealant will work fine, you just have to keep in mind you will have to apply waxes more often than you would a sealant. I never had any troubles getting at least a month out of carnaubas but, if you need longer durability than that a sealant is probably the way to go. For me I have a hard time NOT appling some product or another to the car so even with sealants I generally am applying something on a monthly basis.

I park my car outdoors 100% everytime it rains the teflon like coating of FK pinkwax, FK 146 and FK 425 makes the soil just slides off the paint. Very cool.

Yeah, AIO and SG hardly bead at all. Which is what makes Klasse hard to judge when it's lost its protection. I'd go with Klasse in FL. :2thumbs:

A lot of the Mequiars products are specifically designed to sheet rather than bead. I've used NXT and seen this, and I've heard they Gold Class wax does as well. Not sure about their other stuff. Obviously, a lot of folks here prefer other stuff and these products do have comprimises, such as the durability of Colinite, but they might be what you're looking for. It's kinda nice to look out after a rain and see your car practically dry already.

#21 will sheet.

Thanks. I didn't mention anything about cuz I didn't know. I suspect it's sort of a Mequiars thing, that they feel it's preferable to sheet rather than bead. Do you even know anyone else with a 'nuba that doesn't bead???

wow thanks for the replies. I guess i haven't been getting my email updates for this thread for some reason. I was wondering why i had no replies :(

Yes, i know all about what beads, how great collinate works etc. but what i was wondering is after finishing a customers car in the morning at their workplace what product would sheet the best from the afternoon 45 minute rain storm. Because afterwards the sun will come out and get quite hot and possibly bake on the water spots. Now I don't live in FL right now but am aware of the daily showers. Might be sliding down there in Jan.

In my experience i found that EX-P or upp sheeted the best.

Just was looking for some inpuit.

Can the Pink Wax be applied in the sun?
