Best Over The Counter QD?

Don't confuse the NXT QD with the NXT Spray Booster Wax. The QD is a standard QD, the Booster Wax is a shine touchup. THey behave differently.

I'm surprised that anybody here like the NXT QD (never tried the Booster wax - so I can't comment). It doesn't clean well, doesn't enhance gloss or shine, and doesn't add slickness. I can't see what this product offers that would make it worth buying.

If you are going to buy a Meguair's over the counter product, go for #34. It doens't enhance shine at all, but it does a very nice job of cleaning.

:nixweiss Worked just fine for me. Darkened the paint a touch too. I'll stick with Quikshine but in a pinch, I'd use NXT QD again.

Is Mother's Showtime compatible on carnauba Lsps & sealants?

Yep, its compatible with everything. It doesn't add wax, protection or any oils. Doesn't streak, cleans nicely, brightens paint. It's my favourite 'non-protecting' OTC QD.

I've heard wonderful things about CKs Quickshine, that Scott mentioned...very keen to try it!

I like Megs FI too.

I know I'm in a minority here, when I speak about TWU QD. I like it because it does add *something* to the surface (probably silicone and carnauba protection) but I don't like it on dark colours at all! It made all my jobs with dark paint go ultra-silvery and one-dimensional. I've never seen anything like it. Disclaimer: these cars are showcars and always garaged under metal-halide lights. The silvering effect I saw was under these lights, not sun. It may well look different outside.

That's why I like Showtime...it doesn't play with the finish I've worked hard to create. BTW, neither does FI.

i recently tried the Turtle Wax Platinum QD with carnuba. Worked really well actually.

Here's what I've got on my 04 titanium Grey Mazda 3:

Meg's Cleaner Wax

4*UPP

#16

I found that it gave back some of the slickness of the products i have put on. I didn't really notice any hiding of scratches....not that there are many scratches on my surface. It did impress me though. Gave back the shine, reflection and feel. I didn't find it too plastic looking....IMO I think it still maintained that deep reflective shine the UPP and #16 gave the car.

I have also tried the Sonus Carnuba Spritz on my car. Didn't really get the same results as the Turtle wax but it did give back some of the shine and depth. If I had to choose though I'd have a hard time since they both work really well.

On my dad's 04 silver Camry I have the Gold Class wax on there. It gets the Meguiar's QD treatment after a couple of washes. I must say though the Meguiar's QD works prettty good. Makes the surface a bit slicker as the wash had taken some of it away. It also gave the car a somewhat of a just waxed appearance. I've had the same setup on my mazda 3 before and did not find the finish fitting for the color. The QD also did not do much for improvement in the looks of the wax on my car either.

Cleakcote Quik Shine or Poorboy's Spray'n'Gloss for me - both wonderful, QS make my metallic pop, leaves glass very slick too. The new Sonus QD spray sounds promising too.

I agree with the Mothers QD being a great product.

Anyone else try the Turtle Wax PS stuff ?

I'm looking for something with more protection for my daily driver that sits outside all the time. This stuff has Carnauba and is widely available.

Turtle Wax Platinum is great stuff, Its one of my 2 favorette QDs ,the other being E.O.W.nS. . T.W.leaves a great shine, very slick ,and after a few times tends to fill minor scratches . Megs 34 is very good also ,they use a lot of that at work.

I bought some Long Haul Truck Gloss at PeP Boys because I had a 2.00 off coupon. If Scottwax liked it it must be a decent product.

I figured it would be good for my son on his motorcycle. We used it on the bike and it looked good and was slick afterwards.. also cleaned off some smudge spots on the paint from his oily hands after a chain lube.

Also one day I was going to clean the inside of the truck so I parked out back under a big apple tree for shade..well it was close to 100 that day and very humid...little did I know that apple trees sweat sap on hot days...my hood was coverd with drops of sap the size of pinheads.

So I went in the garage got the Long Haul QD and sprayed the hood and windshield...It took the sap off no problem and left it very nice and glossy and slick..plus it smells like a fruit salad.

so for the money and amount ..not a bad deal or product..

PLUS..a little goes a long way ..2 squirts to my hoood was plenty...

Thanks

Mothers QD especially when on sale @$3.99 for a 20oz bottle! Good stuff.

Agreed! I tried it for the first time recently, and guess where I found it? My girfriend's house lol. Come to find out she is a detail junkie all along, just like me! :woohoo:

Mothers left my finish slicker than Eagle 1. I am going to order some Quikshine and maybe some SG, but for now I am very happy with the Mothers!
