Best for soft honda paint

I have been reading up on this forum for a while and I cant seem to decide on what polish would be best for my vehicles.

I have a 2003 honda accord and a 2002 honda CRV. both have light swirls and are not very noticable even in direct sunlight. but both have a few visible scratches.

I will be getting a UDM soon and I am trying to decide on polish

I dont have a garage so I will most likely be polishing in the hot florida sun.

I have read great things about menz. but they tend to act up in hot weather.

I was also thinking about megs 80 with a white pad followed by poliseal with a white pad. and mabe megs 80 on an orange pad for deeper scratches followed by poliseal on a white pad.

Would megs 80 on an orange pad be too much cut for soft honda paint?

does anyone know from experience a better combo for hondas with light swirls?

Thanks.

Hey there welcome to the world of soft Honda clear! I just did my 08 last week, http://www.autopia.org/forum/click-brag/106053-first-08-habanero-red-civic-si-sedan.html check out my process and looks there but I have a garage and here's what I did...

CG Pro Polish with Blue pad

Polish with Menz PO85RD with black pad

Both of those on the UDM. Honestly I got a good amount of correction with the PP. I wouldn't use anything higher than gray quite honestly. From what I've read the other pads won't finish down properly and you'll be in a bigger mess than you were before.

I will also add to stay away from aggressive pads. A white LC will leave haze with any polish on my 2006 CR-V. Stick with gray for correction as it is stiffer than blue, that will help break down polish. Polishing in the full sun will make it more difficult.

If you can get it locally you could try 3m UF. I used this on my last detail and it was very easy to use, I think it would be fine by UDM (I used a rotary) and should stay wet in the sun. Just some thoughts.

Danase's polishes are OK for using them in direct sunlight.i got them but i didn't use them yet.SFX-2 and SFX-3 were done the job on my Honda. Also Menz PO85RD is pretty good on Honda's paint, but not on the sun..

Thanks guys for all the input.

So It looks like either Sonus SFX or Danase SA would work best for my situation. I. I guess I should stay with gray and blue pads only??...I just hope they have enough cut.

For Honda are enough IMO..IF you use something like a cutting pad you will mar your paint...

SFX 2 and 3 work great on Honda Paint. You can start with SFX 2 with a white pad, and if necessary an orange pad. SFX 3 with a blue or gray pad.

Menzerna PO85RD was my best friend when I had my Integra. Nothing else I used could finish to that level of perfection on the rotary on that soft Honda paint.

I was thinking about optimum polish...I currently have poliseal and OCW that I use as a LSP.

I have herd that Optimum polish is not good to use with PC or UDM because of the long work in time.

I would really like to try the Menz PO85RD but I though this polish was made for the "super hard clearcoats". It seems like that would mar the soft honda paint. wouldn't PO87MC be better to use on soft paint?

Just curious.

I have a 2008 Accord EX-V6 with that red metal flake color. I also have a bunch of cats and I've found that I can get rid of the cat scratch fever really quick with a PC, 5'5" white low profile LC pad and a dab of Menzerna FFII (PO87MC).

That is a very good finishing polish/pad combo for Honda paint. FPII also works well.

For correcting work, SIP on an orange pad is my DA favorite, regardless of CC hardness.

On my Honda, I use Meguiar's 83 with the PC, or Meguiar's 80 with the rotary, on a yellow Meguiar's pad. I then finish with a grey LC pad, and Clearkote's RMG with the PC. That always does a good job for me.

.

Heard wrong .. I use it with a PC/UDM all the time .. in the sun too .. long working time doesn't mean it doesn't do anything .. gives you more time before it dries out.
