Best all around QD?

Tried them all and always go back to Quikshine. Wettest and richest looking QD of them all.

Quick shine is a little more than I want to spend. With shipping its over $20, #34 is like $6, PB S&G is also $6 and both I can get with free shipping. So I think I'm going with these. Any complaints about these?

OTC, I'd go with Wax Shop's Slick Stuff if you can find it.

I use (what's left of) Sonus qd for the "just waxed" surface of car #1. For my daily driver, I've found that Zymol's detail seems to be the best all-around detail spray. It is a bit more active than Sonus in terms of cleaning, but it works very well with a just waxed surface, and I find that it will not strip your wax to any measurable degree. Zymol's Detail is my "go to" QD.

well i haven't tried them all :lol but i've tried a bunch and i too seem to reach for QS more than not. i used to like EF Clear Pearl but that got axed by the man, VOC.

I've tried maybe a dozen, and I haven't found a bad one yet.

S&W, but I don't see that as a QD

Final Detail

#34

Clearkote

Griot's

Crystal Mist

Quik Detailer

Sonax/Sonus/4* (all the same, as best I can tell)

Mother's

NXT

Last Touch

If I went down to the garage I could name a couple more.

They all do the same thing, let you clean light contaminants safely and add a little pop. I have no reason to choose one over another. I don't think wax in the mix is a consideration at all, regardless of what you're putting it on top of. I'd bet that you could wash whatever wax got left behind off with a hose.

Really I didnt know that - :( I was going to grab some more off that it was my best QD I saved/used for shows with my old concours car. After getting some Carnuba Spritz from Autopia they seemed very alike, (Ended using the Sonus as my go to on Carnuba as it was easier to import than the EF) but as that Sonus CS is due to be stopped soon, once my supply off that and the rest of my EF Clear Pearl has gone I am not sure what I will use on Carnuba both of my two faves gone.

I have just got some Pinnacle Cyrstal Mist ( Not used it yet) which hopefully will live up to the two above, shame its a bit more pricey, can it be brought in gallons?

One Grand's Show-Off QD is formulated to be used on carnuaba waxed finishes, particularly their Blitz wax. But I don't know if it contains a carnuaba content or not. Automagic's Magic Mist is also another QD with carnuaba... easy to use and economical. I don't know how they compare with Sonus or EF, but they're not bad.

My favorite is Z6 and Z8. My LSP is Zaino so best results are achieved by using these products.

My favorite homebrew is a spray bottle mixture of QEW (3 or 4 capfuls) in 32 oz of water. QEW cleans, protects and add gloss between washes where Z6 or Z8 does not meet the bill (vehicle too dirty for QD but not requiring a full wash). The QEW protectant is easily washed off during my next Z7 wash so no interference during next application of of Z2-PRO or Z5 with ZFX.

One bottle(small) (~$10) will last a very long time using this mixture, locally available and appears to be quite safe used in this manner for slightly filmy (dirty) finish when applied with very plush 100% cotton towels or terry weave MF's ( i.e DF Towel).

Edwin-are you talking about the wash or the protectant? I know the wash contains a small amount of wax but the protectant has significantly more.

Hi Scott,

I am talking about the QEW wash. Love this concentrated mixture as a QD!!! :xyxthumbs

I use it as a general purpose cleaner around the house. Amazing product. Sure glad I saw it in the new product section in Popular Hot Rodding in 1992. :)

Think I might have to try this QEW as a waterless wash between washes. Do you use this stuff as a car wash too? Is it made to be used as a waterless QD wash, like PB S&W?

After reading about the product I am a little confused still. Do you use it like a regular car wash (mixed in a bucket and use a wash mitt) except dont rinse before or after, or is it a spray on wipe off? Scott, what is your prefered method and do you use this when you detail your customers cars?

Thanks
