Beer Time

OK, I just got back from the liquor store and man has their inventory grown. Last time I was there, they didn't have much on the imported side other than what you could get at the gas station. So I went into this almost blindly as far as what to get. Thank you victory for the link that helped some with the decision process. I got a 6 pack of Rogue Dead Man's Ale, 6 pack of Dinkel Acker, and a pint each of Sam Smith Oatmeal, IPA, Taddy Porter, and Tadcaster.

I came home and looked at the new tires on my wife's car and the jacklegs at Sear's tore the paint off my two rear wheels. Now I've gotta go deal with them. I guess the good thing is, the beer will be cold when I get home and will definitely taste better and more deserved.

I also found out that WV has a law that allows only so much AC in beers to be sold. Guess that's why I can't get Yeungling. :(

I'm not caring much for my dead guy ale. The dinkel acker was decent until I saw the malt liquor designation on the bottle. Kind of turned me off. I might get out the Samuel Smith later.

Don't let malt liquor turn you off, there are some very good ones like dogfish head liqueur de malt. Come in 40oz in a hand stamped paper bag.

I still have 5 more to drink so it may grow on me. I just have bad memories of Colt 45.

John, I just had a pint of Tadcaster (in a glass) and that's a good beer. Not super smooth, but a good mix of great flavors. I will certainly get this again. I might get a pint of Rogue's Shakespeare to try out too. After the day I've had, any beer would be good. The Dead Guy seemed to taste better after trying to fix the paint on a friend's 2000 F-150. Thanks for putting me on the right path.

Sam Smith IPA for me. Has a fair amount of head and a nice scent. Waiting for the head to drop some before tasting.

Well Well Well, tonight having a bottle Dogfish Head Olde School, suppose to be a Barley Wine Style, well to me it's more of an Belgian Strong Pale Ale. Not hoppy at all, tons of nice lacing ponds (if you know what I mean). Very tasty, oh it clocks in at 15% ABV.

Last night I had a bomber of Reaper Ale Redemption, a very nice Red/Amber Ale. This was my first Reaper Ale, I still have some Mortality Stout and Deathly Pale Ale, which I'm sure they will be great as well.

Deschutes has some very good brews. Try their Jubelale sometime (their winter seasonal), it's very good. I was down at their brewpub in Bend, OR once, and they had Jubelale that they'd cask conditioned in some old pinot noir barrels. It was very tasty... just a subtle flavor difference from the normal jubelale, and plenty smooth due to the cask conditioning.

If I can get a hold of it, you bet, I will pick some up. Thanks for the heads up.
