Autobrite Foam Lance (in action)

The foam lance came in this week, so I was eager to try it out... Here are some photos. It can be purchased from PolishedBliss.com - Website Currently Unavailable

I used approx. 3oz. of DP Extreme Foam car wash soap and the rest of the bottle filled with water.

looks good. what type of pressure washer did you use that with or was that with the garden hose?

Also, how much was shipping as this came from the U.K. and did they charge you VAT?

EDIT: found the answer to the shipping and VAT questions from their website by adding to cart and starting the checkout process. There is no VAT and shipping is 12.67 pounds (~$18.28). total cost would be about ~$78 shipped.

What would be the advantage of doing something like that?

The purpose is to lift and loosen the dirt on the surface of the paint. So that when you apply a wash medium the dirt on the surface is already softened/loosened for easy removal. A good pre-rinse with a power washer, then a foaming and let dwell for 5 or so minutes ( as long as it doesn't dry) and re-rinse, a considerable amount of the dirt may be rinsed away, leaving a minimal amount for the wash media to pick up and risk paint induced marring.

I bought a foam gun from Autogeek and love it so much, I want to buy one for my pressure washer also. It would just make things easier not having to switch the hose from the foam gun to the pw.

If you have a foam gun already, using the right amount of soap makes a good amount of foam/suds. The foam lance is just that on roids.

My main reason for purchasing the foam lance was so that I could use it with the pressure washer while already running it, and also to disperse a denser foam so that it will cling longer on the paint surface to ultimately reduce marring while washing.

Plus it's fun as hell!

There are reasons for quick disconnects ;)

I use a gilmour one that has a valve in it so I can just turn it off with the valve and use it to sheet water after. Very handy :bigups

I washed our Corolla today and tried the foam lance with the Optimum soap this time. Same approx. dosage of 3oz. like the prior wash.

Definitely, Optimum Car wash is the winner. These photos were taken not long after the car was foamed. However the foam did not drip off much more than that. It stayed on the paint. :bigups

BTW: the Optimum soap took care of whatever was left of the LSP on the roof. Water was barely cascading off of the roof.

Yes, I am aware of the quick disconnects, however, we have extremely low water pressure where I live, so to foam with the foam gun is fine, however, to rinse takes forever which is why I foam with the foam gun, wash and then switch to the pressure washer to rinse. Hence, the need to possible invest in a lance for the pressure washer.

Lance looks like it does a Great job. I have a gun similar to the Gilmore. I purchased it at PRI Industries. I use it with my pressure washer. I'm still working on the quick disconnects. Where do you live? You don't have any problems with the run off? I don't as of yet in Ohio. But that looked like alot of soap!

Dang, that Optimum really gets foamy. I'l need to try that. Next one I want to try in my lance (same as yours) is the Duragloss 901. Heard it does wonders in the lance.

Nicely done. Looks like it gives great coverage and clings nicely.

Do you notice any difference in how clean the foam leaves the car versus hand washing? Have you tried foaming the car without giving it a water pre-rinse?

I have the foam gun for a regular hose from autogeek, and I actually love it. It foams nice and it does seem to clean better as the soap gets to soak for a bit breaking down the grit and grime. It also makes the wash go by so much faster...in fact, I like it so much, I just ordered my Autobrite Foam Cannon, so hopefully it will be here within a week or so.

PS: My wife is already eyeing it up for cleaning patio furniture, siding on the house, the vinyl fencing/railing....:hairpull

I have not yet tried foaming the car without pre-rinsing as a) doesn't take long to pressure rinse b)I try to rinse away as much dirt and marring potential contaminants prior to foaming. However next time I will foam the car when it's dry and see how the dwell time varies.

As far as the paint being foamed and not hand washed, there is a visible difference (car is a little brighter). Although my cars haven't been too dirty, this would be my "express" wash technique. However, after the foaming, my wash media just glides across the paint surface with minimal effort, and the panel is clean.

I like using the foam cannon more than the foam gun as the paint surface feels like it has more "slickness" to it while gliding the wash media, (as compared to using the foam gun with the same amount of soap and the same soap). To me that translates into less potential for marring.
