So I detailed this V8 Vantage the other day; only has ~700km or so on it, it's an '07 but the owner has a convertible on order so away it goes. I did this same car awhile back, it came from the dealer like this:

Not that I condone this sort of abuse (obviously), but having worked on the car a few times now I understand why it happened. Softest paint ever; I took those marks out with 106FF on a black pad at under 1000rpm. Since then I've washed it twice without inducing marring (go go magic leaf blower), but the owner also washed it a few times and wasn't so lucky, so now that it's for sale it needed to be cleaned up.

So I did 106FF/black @1000 rpm again, put some Megs #16 on it, cleaned up the inside (white leather, good call!), dressed the almost unused engine, and called it a night.

Anyway, the pics are more for all the car nuts enjoyment rather than as a testament to my ability to clean a virtually unused car! :)

I wish I could create scratch n sniffs online, the smell of the "all leather wrapped" interior is divine. I'd sleep in it if it were mine. Only $129,000 more in my back account and it can be! :D

Why take care of it, when they know you can make it look better than new! Not to mention, they can afford to pay you!

Beautiful work.

IIRC they are about 140ish for the Vantage.

so 40 large away from a 911 Turbo :D. I think the 911 Turbo is more fun to drive, and is better for the winter, but the Vantage looks oh so cool

$135k base here in Canada; he's selling it for $130k.

911T is absolutely, 100% way more fun to drive and quicker to boot. The Vantage engine actually leaves a lot to be desired, only 302lb/ft torque and all up high. Clutch is super light too. It's a nice "driving around tourer", but it's ain't no 911T. :) They need to supercharge it or something.

But ya, it sure is a sexy beast.

And ya, I am really liking #16. Believe it or not these 5 tins I grabbed on the eshine sale are the first time I've used it. Easy to use, looks good, and I hear the durability is good too.

Aston Martins are some of the most beautiful cars made right now in my opinion. Pics look awsome. Now if I could only get my black car to look like that.

Did you get a chance to hear that thing start up and rev? I remember when they tested this on Top Gear and they said that they could hear the engine from 2 miles away. Of course this was out on the island of man I believe but still that's quite impressive.

Anyways great job on the detail.

Holy cow, that looks good.....how many pads did you use on that thing, I see a bucket full.:grinno:

Heh, that's my bucket o' pads. I only used one, a grey one for the 106ff. :)

I got to drive it! Actually, the engine is fairly quiet until ~4k rpm you remove a fuse that opens something up in the exhaust under 4k rpm. The owner showed me and there is a distinct difference. Anyway, he leaves the fuse out and it does sound really, really nice. Only downside is the car throws a code with the fuse out.

Even idling it's a very deep menacing growl. It's not super loud though, just right I think. Most stock Ferrari's are much louder.

:xyxthumbs

amazing car. Although I think its in a different class and cant be compared to a 911tt, I believe you can compare it to something like an M6, which imo, loses easily to the AM. beautiful car and great work!
