Applying UPP?

If you like the look and slickness of UPP stick with it. From what i have heard UPP is very durable, it will most likely last through a winter, just add a few layers. A wax like 16 is good insurane for durabilty, but I would think that slickness would help over winter also!

Yeah my hope was to have the car super-slick for winter...and hopefully it will be slick enough to have snow fall right off of it. And it would be nice to have the finish very slick for when I have to wash the car without a hose.

It might look good initially but I think you'll run into bonding problems...:nono

If something seems to be going wrong, I'll clean it all off with AIO if I have to, and reapply UPP. We'll see what happens. I already have 2 layers of UPP on top of the paint so I'm not very worried.

Thread from the dead, I know, but I didn't think it was appropriate to start a thread on this.

I just got my order of SG and UPP in. I had planned on SGx2 and UPPx whatever.

Will the UPP bond to SG? The car will have AIO on it under the SG anyway.

TIA.

Dunno, actually. I just wanned to try both at the same time. It kind of takes the fun out of adding more and more stuff if you just throw on AIO and layer only UPP.

I haven't tried it, but people here whose opinions I respect say that they have layered SG and UPP with no problems.

One reason to do it would be the way UPP is slicker than SG. I prefer how it looks too.

I do find SG to be the more durable product. If you get 4-6 layers of SG on there (I know, that's a lot...) you could probably just spot-clay (very gently) and add UPP for a very, very long time. The SG (let alone the paint underneath it) seems to stay nice (i.e., it doesn't degrade) as long as you keep it clean, and the UPP would be a "sacrificial layer" over top of it.

That was my logic. The slickness of the UPP, on top of the durability of SG. I don't have the patience to apply 4-6 players of SG in one detail (or week, however long it would take to cure it all) but I think 1 or 2 should be good for a while.

This is going to be on an 'extra' car, whose only job is to look good until I get to drive her. The extra work for the look and durability doesn't bother me at all ;)
