Anyone used FK1's 900 Series 2180 Ultra Seal?

...Dreaming on an E92....
I stopped by my local dist. this morning for a few supplies and asked about sealants while I was there. I've tried a couple they offer but I keep going back to Meguiars #20, for the long-lasting protection and ease of application if offers. I'm tired of using the same old thing though, so they brought out the FK1 sealant and told me to try it.

It's a breathable sealant, so I take that it's water-based like the new DP sealant? They said they sell a lot of this stuff to body shops and that they love it for freshly painted cars. It laims that it can remove oxidation and "surface accumulation" (whatever that is? contamination?), and it mentins its long-lasting protection a few times in the description.

Anyway, anyone else used this stuff? I've got a dark metallic blue '07 Honda Accord I'm working on today and thought it'd be fun to try something different. I'm working at home today so I'll check back periodically for answers :)

I have not used their sealant but every FK1 product that I have used has been stellar....this is a sealant that cleans? sort of an AIO if you will?

I can't say how strong the cleaners are but I would guess it's probably close to #20 or Ultracoat Wax? I know both have mild cleaners and I assume this is the same. I'm about to start polishing so I should be trying out this product shortly...

Back when FK1 had an active forum their representative called it "The 800 lb. gorilla of sealants" and claimed it could last up to a year. I have not used it myself. Please give us your impressions.

Just finished wiping it off the car and it looks pretty good, it brings out the true color just as it says. Easy to apply and just as easy to remove, and it doesn't have a long drying time like other synthetics (15 minutes is all!). In the sun the metal flake really pops out and it has a nice reflective sheen, but not quite as deep as #20. I have yet to pull the car out into full sun for a full impression, I plan on doing so after I finish the interior. Better go start on it :notme:

I don't know if the "900 series" is different than the "regular" 2180, but if not, then the 218 is the cleaner/sealant and the 2180 is more of the "pure" sealant, so I wouldn't expect much cleaning from it. I have tried each and, although not exhaustive in testing, the 3 cars I did test it on all had drastically reduced beading after a couple months. Maybe it still protects, but the cars didn't look "freshly waxed" either.
I've read that you need to apply at least 2 coats on a car the first time. Something about the first one absorbing into the paint so much, I guess. Maybe that would give longer lasting looks/beading, but using their polishes (which are also supposed to add a little protection) before applying only one coat of the 2180, I didn't get anywhere near the longevity they claimed. I think I actually got better beading/looks from the 1000P wax. (Not to say that it washed off in the first rain or anything, mind you. ;) )

I told the guy that his vehicle was a guinea pig for this stuff and that if he has any durability problems that I'd be more than happy to throw another coat on. Hopefully this stuff will have some decent protection.
The thing I noticed about it is how the paint looks totally different at all angles, the deck lid might look shiny and reflective in full sun and the vertical panels have a really deep shine. In full sun the verticle panels have a deep glow as well, so far I like it
It doesn't quite have the wetness of Megs #20 IMO, but I've only used this stuff on one color so I can't accurately say that I guess. Overall it's a nice product and I'm happy to have something else in my arsenal :bigups

Quick update on the FK1 Ultra Seal

Thought I'd throw in a quick update here. I used this stuff for the second time today, topped off a Carbon metallic grey Chevy pickup with it, it made the flake pop like mad! Way more than the other sealants I've used. It's cleaning capability is mild yet IMO perfect. I didn't do much to this truck, it's a work truck that gets cleaned maybe every 8-10 weeks so I simply removed a few spots of paint transfer and slapped this stuff on. I encountered a few small bug spots I missed during the wash and some tar spots as well and it had no problem removing them. I think I put it on a bit thick this time as it was harder to remove than before, which also led to a longer hazing time, so put this stuff on as thin as you can.
I seem to have misplaced my camera :wall:( otherwise I'd have some pictures, but this stuff definitely went up a notch in my books. Tons of pop, slick, and it leaves the finish looking like glass :bigups
