Thanks so much Matt for posting!Weird coincidence...I had a minor umbilical hernia almost 3 weeks ago and it's just about fully healed now. I was doing some heavy squats and had my belt too tight...I was in a lot of pain for a few days. Lots of rest + 600mg ibuprofen 3x a day and it was much better after a week with only some residual pain. Been doing whatever I can and I'm finally able to work out hard again now.
I know this probably doesn't help too much, but just try to rest up and don't do anything that will potentially re-injure it. I was scared to death with the amount of pain I was in for the first few days and thought I would need surgery for sure, but I got lucky I guess. Rest up and take it as an opportunity to relax some more![]()
This is what I want to hear !Our circumstances are very similar but very different too.
Unlike you I never had the extreem pain. I had this very uncomfortable abdominal pressure and swelling for about a month before I went to the doctor . I also had this strange feeling like I was pregnant and my guts were pushing out through my stomach, ab muscles.
Like you I was working out pretty enthusiasticlly and had some very hard jobs at work the week it started . Then I got a cold and was coughing a lot whitch I am sure didnt help.
My friend who has an alignment shop and does heavy lifting all day long has an umbilical hernia too right above his navel . Its the size of a dime and the doctor told himits too small to operate . He has had it for years and it doesnt bother him anymore.
My other friend has one in his groin . He also has had it for years and told me he just pushes it back in when it pops out.
I dont take ibuprofen but take about 5 grams of vit C whitch BTW helps with inflammation and very important for muscle healing . You should be taking it!
Also just a warning ,not to scare you but if you have sudden pain and vomiting it can be a possible "incarceration" where the intestines get trapped/pinched off and begin to die and that it is emergency that reguires immediate surgery. Its rare though so dont sweat it.
Where exactly is yours and did you go to the doctor? If so what did he tell you? Also do you do detailing work?
:thanks
