For those of you with cars that generate a great deal of brake dust, what do you do to clean the rims between weekly washings, aside from taking out the hose/rim cleaner? I'm considering using car wash wipes that I've seen around lately (I think they were by Armor All). Do you think they'll scrath the rims?

I have Brembo's on my TL and they *really* dust up a lot.
I polish and seal my wheels (AIO / PB Wheel Sealant). After that, in between weekend washings, I just use one of my older, rattier MF's and PB's Spray & Wash and it comes off with no effort at all.
I should add that contrary to a post I made in another thread, PB Wheel Sealant *does* seem to repel brake dust as I notice a lot less dust to clean off since I started using it. My $0.02 FWIW.

Try the Michelin Brake Dust Repellent. I bought some based on a review here a while back, and it really works well. Keeps the dust low between cleanings, and also makes the wheels to clean during a wash.
I will definitely 2nd the PB Wheel Sealant:up Just tried it last week using AIO as a cleaner/base, my Audi wheels are definitely cleaner looking than without using the PB WS after a normal weeks worth of driving. I only got to apply one coat of the PB WS to each wheel, too. The PB directions actually say to apply multiple coats (up to 3) with time between each to allow for curing. I have no doubt that the WS would probably perform even better/longer following that advice.
As for as cleaning in between regular car washes, I am partial to the PB S&W. Make sure the wheels are cool prior to the following:
1. rinse or spray wheel with water (I prefer to be a little cautious here, but for those less anal you probably could go right to step 2)
2. spray PB S&W liberally on wheel surface and wipe w/ mf turning frequently as dirt accumulates on the mf
3. follow up with your favorite QD and a fresh mf

I have a philosophical problem with the Pb's Wheel Sealant. Is it really any better than any other LSP on wheels? And if it is, how come nobody's using it on the rest of the car? Two posters above state that their wheels stay cleaner than before using it but they don't say they had any LSP on before to compare it to. Just asking.

Yes, but considering I had just refreshed the NXT layer, then topped with OCW and finally topped w/ P21S wax, I don't think I will get to test the wheel selant on the paint too soon. I also just ordered a bunch of the new DP lineup and think that I will be stripping everything to try their paint sealant before I get around to the PB WS test.

I use Autoglym SRP & EGP on the paint and wheels and just wipe the wheels down with soapy water every time I wash the car. This keeps the wheels looking good

For the record, I stripped any LSP's I had on my wheels before applying WS (clayed and IP wiped.) I used to have AIO/EX-P. Now AIO / PB WS = better dust repelling and easier clean up. Look is about the same.
Also in the other thread/forum, I think Steve mentioned that it *could* be used on paint but that some have experienced streaking and it's not really recommended for paint.
Plus, at $16/8oz , it's not really economical for use on body paint. Honestly, I was happy with AIO / EX-P on the wheels and just decided to try the PB WS just because I wanted to. Now that I see it works better, I'll stick with it. Plus, that 8oz. jar will last *forever* since so little is used per application.

I think it's just a marketing scam. Detailing forums are filled with peolpe looking for excuses to buy the newest and greatest product. The people who manufacture and sell these products know this. Put a sealant in a jar a label it wheel sealant and wow we have got to try this. I'm still waiting for somebody to release rear bumper sealant and passenger door sealant. Maybe I should start my own line of products. I will have a sealant for every part of the car.

In my opinion, Steve makes quality products and I like the fact that he openly states that they don't make a new product clone just because someone else has a new product out. They want to offer a product that they feel is better and will not release it until it meets their standards.
If you don't want to use PB WS that's fine and dandy, but implying we are too stupid and are merely being scammed is just a personal attack. Maecrispy and I were merely stating our positive experience with the product.

I do not understand why this sealant is a "Wheel Sealant"? Why is it not just a sealant? What is in it specifacly for wheels? I keep hearing about how durable it is. I have no doubt that it is. So why not use it on the whole car? Why is it marketed as a Wheel Sealant? Do you see bumper sealants or roof sealants out there? No, you just use a sealant on those areas.
