This is my girlfriends 89 Corvette that she daily drives. She loves this car. We have been talking about getting it repained for a while but neither of us can afford to do so. So I decided to do the next best thing and spend a week detailing it.
The paint on this car is absolutely aweful! Its on its third or fourth black paint job. Was probably painted by Maaco, or Earl S. I can tell because there is orange peel, fish eyes, and sanding scratches in the paint itself everywhere. Not to mention the paint is peeling is some places that are thankfully hidden, and it is bubbling in others. You will notice the clear coat failure on the bumper, and also the overspray all over the doors. No close ups were done because as good of a job as I did removing swirls... there are just too many imperfections in the paint. But most of you will admit this is 100% turn around. This was also my first time using my NEW MAKITA ROTARY!!!! And yes if your not careful it does burn through clear coat quick.
The process was:
Wash with Dawn
Clay Bar Entire Car
Wet Sand Areas that required wet sanding (2000Grit)
Danase Swirl Abolisher III W/ Wool Pad at 1500RPM/ Rotary
4 Star Swirl Mark Remover W/Foam Polishing Pad 1500
Red Moose Machine Glaze W/Foam Finishing Pad 1000RPM
Hand Wax W/ Collinite 845
Meguiars Final Inspection Quick Detailer/Sealer
Fender Wells were Dressed in CD2
Armorall Extreme Tire Shine on tires and moldings
Stoner Invisible Glass on Windows
Magnaflow Exhaust - Rust Removed with P21s Wheel Cleaner and Scotch Brite... sealed with Zaino ZCS
