Am I charging too low of a price? $18?

well if people are dumb enough to pay for my $300 car 'washes' then, yeah, i guess thats what im doing..

I sorry I thought that you do not have a PC,

you have a rotary but are scared to use it &

you use the power ball for paint to apply wax

it sound to me like you do not detail car:dig

Would I wash a car with ONR for $18.00 lets see...

I use 2 cap fulls per 4 gal. water.

ONR - 75cents per wash

SIG (invisible glass) - $3.47 a can @ walmart (19oz aerosol) and what around 10 cars per can? is 35 cents per car.

now if he is only washing/vac and doing glass, no wax, no clay, no polishing, ONR can also clean some wheels, but Optimum power clean would do a better job or simple green from walmart would surfice.

so lets see heres the total per car:

is $1.10

is it worth it to make just WASHING A CAR $16.90? to me yes.

But lets take this a step further...

Detailed Image has a pro detailer account (email [email protected]) and ask him about it tell him Brandon from ImmaculateAuto sent you.

Using the pro-detailer account ONR costs much less $28.99 and you can figure costs of the detail will drop as well

ONR $28.00 div by 128 = $0.22 (x2 ounces per wash)

SIG $3.47 (walmart) div by 10 = $0.35

total - $0.79 cents per wash

now I ask you is it worth it to make that much profit per detail? yes. Could he make more? Yes. It it worth it? depends on alot of things. But if you ask me those profit margins are better than most any other industry on the planet.

Lets understand you and I charge what we do because we want to and we need to. He charges what he wants because he doesn't need to charge more. Money isn't everything ya know.

so 'detailing' in your terms requires tons of power equipment and super expensive supplies? so if i "do not detail car", what is it I do?

With just these two pictures (before and after, tahoe and BMW) please tell me where i missed the 'detail'? i can take criticism, so please send it my way..

or, is taking the time to take off each individual wheel and actually CLEANING areas where a brush cannot go with the wheel on, Is that not "detailing"?

So detailing to you BIGjim is all about how well the paint shines huh? what about the other "DETAILS" in the process of detailing? i have noticed alot on here that that is the MAIN concern. All about the paint.. So until I buy a PC, I need to take the word 'detailer' off my business cards and my invoices, erase all of my prices and just write in big red letters, $18 for EVERYTHING I AM CAPABLE OF DOING! yeah, thats what i will do.. haha. carry on slimjim.. i have seen you carry a grudge towards most people on here since i started reading the forums.. im thru with this conversation..

have some tension that needs to be released?? i understand man.. i went thru it too.. when i was 12! here ya go buddy. youporn . com have fun! see you back tomo!

getting a little defensive there aren't cha? Take a deep breath here.... This may come as a shock but this thread isn't about you. If you want to call yourself a detailer because you can clean up some wheels and you take the time to take them off and clean them really good so be it. It's your business structure and it works great for you. Congrats! but this isn't about what you do and what you want to call it. it's about a kid doing a service that works for him and makes him money and keeps him some customers. How is what he doing wrong? It's not.

Well there's a lot more to it than that, as I'm sure you know. Gas, other misc. products and tools, maintenance costs (detergent, etc.)...the list goes on. However, if he's still turning a profit that makes him happy, more power to him.

I picked up the phone and had a nice conversation with Beau from Flawless.

These forums are so hard, our true personalities do not show through.

I thought Beau was a hard working, conscientious, open minded detailer who is trying to do the best he can to build a customer base and make a buck.

IMHO

It is not cool to brag about how much money you make. In my experience, people who do are usually exaggerating. Honestly, if you are doing well with your business, who cares what other people think or say.
