AIO or SSR1 under Zaino Z5 & Z2pro

Ok i have my 4runner for 2 1/2 years been using zaino since the beginning and I clay it once a year or more. Its garage kept. I have never polished but I feel the paint needs to be cleaned. I want to use a polish/cleaner. I already have SSR1 but I know this has some abrasive properties.

Would you recommend just using the SSR1 then going to zaino or buying some AIO to use?? I also have some Z-PC but i feel that along with the SSR2 and 2.5 I have are to abrasive for what I need.

Thanks Chris

Without seeing your car in person, there really is no way for anyone to know where you should start. Odds are though, if it hasn't been polished in 2 1/2 years, odds are you need to clay then polish with SSR2.5 (or Optimum Polish), then follow with Z-PC.

car has been clayed and completely stripped of all wax recently. There is little to no marring or swirls. Paint is black! Im looking to brighten the paint up as when it was new. Ive notice as time has passed its not as bright, crisp or deep in color (kind of hard to describe). Im attributing this to not ever polishing it. So im figuring a polish could help this. I find 2.5 to be completely unneeded. Chris

Trust me, 2.5 is probably needed to get the best results. 2 1/2 years without polishing is a long time. I've had to use it or Optimum on cars newer than that and they didn't really look bad to begin with.

First of all, Sal doesn't recommend AIO under Zaino. The AIO will not last as long as Z, and therefore the Z won't last.

I would recommend a good polish, though. 2 1/2 years is a long time to go without any. Mezerna IP or SSR2.5 followed by Z-PC would work great!

And don't forget to post before and after pics! :woot:

ok ill go with everyone recommendations. Car is garage kept and washed whenever it gets dirty. Wax the damn thing all the time but before I got on this website I never knew about polishing and alot of stuff. I use Propel pads what color should I start out with the 2.5?? Green? Orange(most aggressive)? Normally I would go with the orange for swirls and scratches but I dont really have any thats why this is so strang for me. Chris

No swirls?? I highly doubt that. Even us Autopians, in our infinite glory, produce swirls somehow on our daily drivers. It's inevitable, unless you never, ever touch your car with anything.

Take a good, long look at your car in direct sunlight or under a halogen work lamp. Then, if you really don't see any swirls, we'll all apologize and congratulate you!

Back on topic...:) I haven't used any propel pads before. I would use a Yellow polishing pad(from my LC pad collection). If anyone knows the Propel equiv. please chime in...

Sorry for the sorta hi-jack, but can Z2PRO/Z5 be used directly after polishing with Optimum? Or does Z-PC have to be used?

You can use it directly after Optimum. The bonding ability of the Z5/2 might be better after Z-PC, but I've never noticed any difference.

they are some minor but not enough to bother me. Thats why I said little to no marring or swirls. Its kept in the garage I use it twice a week at most. 14k miles over 2 1/2 years. Chris
