21 and detailing seriously for about 3 years. Before that, I was just claying, cleaner wax, and finishing wax :).

19, before finding this site, I was washing with dish soap, using a ragged MF as a mitt, and wasted $40 on Crystalguard quick. Now it's washing with foam gun, 3 sheepskin mitts, and waxing with either Natty's, #16, 4* UPP, Liquid Souveran, or SG.

Im old enough to know better but still too young to care.

Seriously, I turned 35 at the beginning of this month and have been detailing since 16

I guess at 53 I still have a few more years left in me as long as I stay in shape...

Dunno about doing it professionally, but my father was still handwashing his cars into his mid '80s. He had me do the polishing/waxing by then though, but he did his share of the wash/dry every saturday. You have plenty of years left ;)

65 in November. Been washing, waxing and cleaning since I was 14. Been detailing as a hobby (my cars and family members ones only) since I retired in 2000.

Younger than Setec :)

:lol who isn't? :nervous:

20 here. Been washing/waxing my car frequently since I got the Maxima in '02. Now that I've got a car with no real damage (just a few door dings and scratches) and my new wheels, I'm really into keeping my car mint. I've been detailing for profit for about a year and a half now. It pays for my modifications and supplies. And since I had a random guy at the gas station tell me that my car looks "showroom new" (first time with the Protege), it's worth every penny! :D

That reminds me...I need more S&G and 303...

44. Been detailing full time professionally about 11 1/2 years now. Wow, I just realized that is a quarter of my life! I discovered the joys of detailing when I was 16 and my Dad bought some Armor All, which I then applied to the red vinyl interior of our Ford Country Squire Station Wagon with fake wood trim on the sides. Suddenly, we had shiny red vinyl! :)

Nothing like working outside all day to keep you feeling young.

Scott, what'd you do before you started detailing?

Restaurant manager. Several years with Jack in the Box, about a year and a half with Denny's-and that was the longest 18 months of my life; burned me out on restaurant management. Too hard to work for people who really don't care about the customer as long as the numbers look good.

I'll turn 22 in three weeks.

Always had an interest in keeping my cars nice. I didn't start doing it "correctly" until two years ago.

Turned 40 :scared: last month; I've been "looking after" my cars and keeping them waxed since I was 17; I've been detailing them (as well as friends' and family members' rides) for the past 8 years or so. I've learned even more on Autopia over the past few years! Thanks everyone :chuckle: .

Im 63, been crazy about detailing since I was 9 when Id spend more time Simonizing my bike then riding it.I started using a buffer when I was 17 doing Luster-Seal jobs in a gas station. Then I got a job at a car dealer detailing new and used cars. I also color sanded and buffed out new lacquer paint after the cars left the body shop. From time to time I detailed cars at home to make extra money.
