Aftermarket Parts

Didn't go quite as expected. Dr. got in there and found that the bone graft had collapsed and was basically disintegrated. Nothing to pull out. They didn't pull the bottom pieces of the broken screws out as that would have required bigger holes, more digging and a weaker result. One of the other bones was shattered. This required more grafts (ended up with another incision, now have six on this foot) from the heal and other bones as well as cadaver graft. I'd post another picture but there is so much metal in there I can't really discern what is going on. Sitting here with my casted foot in the air with ice at the knee. It hurts. Hate to wish my life away but I'd just as soon not have to sit here for another 10 weeks as it's a zero load bearing repair.

This made me cringe. I'm so sorry that you've had so much trouble with this. I wish you a speedy recovery.

On a side note.......your cars must be trashed. :(

You got that right and we've had the mildest winter on record. I did run them through a sray/wand wash while I was only on the cane. Back to crutches now. We've got apricot and cherry trees blooming in Utah. That's April weather here. Gonna lose all that fruit.

I can't imagine going through the original surgery and healing only to have to start over again. Hopefully everything goes right from here on in.

Get well quick. They'll be plenty of work waiting for you!
