Adrenal Response Conditioning vs. Officer-involved Shootings and Police Training

I do get on my soapbox where Adrenal Stress Conditioning is concerned...single most beneficial thing I've gone through in this lifetime, right up there with (actually more important than) learning to read.

Having a psych background, I can tell you learning to control emotions in any and all states is paramount in life. You will go a lot farther when you learn to control knee jerk reactions.

It really is. I am hearing some departments are going to annual or semi annual qualifying, much less other important training.

It's all about the budget. Training costs money and nobody wants to pay the overtime etc that it takes to get "enough" training. The bean counters at city/county/town hall are always asking "do you REALLY need that"?

Bullets cost $$$$ as well

Dunno man.

While I watched the shot in the back video and do think it went down bad, if I HAD to pick "sides"; I'd prolly side with the cop.

1. Don't mess with cops, don't fight with cops, don't try to grab a cops gun, don't get smart or yell at cops, and don't run away from them - then you won't have to worry about being shot.

I wouldn't mess with anyone with a gun - cop or not.

Don't bother me. If I steal stuff - I expect to get my azz beat. Too many cameras, cell phones, and Go Pros around these days IMHO. Victims rights? What a joke. The victim is a criminal.

This is why our constitution has the innocent until proven guilty. They can be just as guilty as the criminals.

Yeah, so many things cost so much (money, time)...but try to put a value on LIFE, and/or its quality ;)

A fair number of [Professionals] I've trained with were there on their own dimes, often burning vacation days to do it.

We are in 100% agreement on this one! It can be a hard to sell to some people though, often the ones who need to deal with it the most. Gotta say that I find the topic(s) endlessly fascinating...

All very good points and I can closely relate because I had my Adrenal glands removed due to a medical condition, and I must say without them life is much less stressful overall.

Without adrenal glands, pros:
· I can stay focused longer without fatigue I.E. racing, detailing, driving, fighting, shooting, etc.
· It feels like a Zen-like state where everyone else is losing control due to adrenaline (dumps) and I'm just feeling normal (like reading a book comfortable).
· I don't get scared/frightened at all anymore. My wife and I used to scare each other by hiding somewhere and jumping out, or other more intense pranks. After the operation, it just wasn't the same.

Without adrenal glands, cons:
· I never feel pumped up like; after winning a race or when I'm getting into a physical confrontation (fight). Obviously I still have emotions and feel excited just without the adrenaline pumping trough my veins.
· After a long hard workout of lifting weights you typically feel like a demi-god, not me anymore.
· When trying to lift something that requires 110%, I just don't get that boost that adrenaline was providing.

I have never shared this before, but I figured I'm unique in the way I relate to this subject so I figured it's worth sharing.

P.S. it's much easier to win when you never have the fear or stress of losing. I've become much more successful since the removal of my Adrenal glands.

4u2nvinmtl- Huh, that's all very interesting, don't hear about something like that every day. Yes, indeed, thanks for sharing that.

Just FWIW, besides finding it helpful during exercise, in some cases I can now use the adrenal response to my benefit; there are a number of things I simply do best under stress (but certainly not everything). But eh, that's just me and I had to do a lot to get to this point.

I don't need to "walk in your shoes" or have any "special training" to know not to shoot someone in the back 8 times over a brakelite being out

I've never trusted the police and never will

Well, at least you're keeping an open mind.

Its a common physiological response to perform better under stress in tasks that you are proficient in. Kind of like sports athletes and such.

Its not just common folk who have a problem with the police. I was at a customers today (husband & wife - both doctors) and this subject came up. Both individuals had their own nightmare stories involving the police

I think its the whole attitude thing you all have going on that makes the public not like you

I am a reasonable individual obviously

Right, some stress is good once the skillset is established. IME it's a matter of the *degree* of stress.

In my case, under *extreme* stress, real fear-for-life situations, varous necessary skills were just too compromised prior to the Conditioning, so I had to get that sorted out.
