Well, I ABC'd my car last night. I followed the directions to the tee. My observations:
The "A" product is supposed to remove old wax and sealants and bird dropping, and water spots etc. Well after I applied it, I thought my old blitz apps were a thing of the past. The paint didn't feel as slick, but it did feel smoother, like I clayed it. And water no longer beaded. On the areas where I had the rust specs in the paint, I applied it twice to ensure nothing would prevent the "B" product from doing it's job.
The "B" product was supposed to remove industrial fallout, ferrous particles(ie the rust coloured specs). Well, it didn't. I used it three times on the affected areas. I stopped because I was afraid too much would harm my paint.
So I moved on the "C" product, which is your standard car wash. It lathered well. It did it's job with no problems.
Now on to today. I was just outside SMR'ing. As I was working the product in to the surface, I could see these things that looked like eraser bits. You know when you take a white eraser and rub it against paper, it leaves some shavings behind on the paper that you have to blow away. Well, the same thing happenned when I was applying my smr. I came to the conclusion that those eraser like bits were actually old wax. When picked one of them up and squeezed it in between my fingers, it melted intantly. This also happenned on the trunk as well where I applied the "A" product twice.
What did I do wrong? I've read about so many people having great success with the ABC system. I followed the instructios exactly. I mixed the products at the proper ratio. I used seperate sponges for A, B, and C. I used seperate buckets for A, and C. I did it in the garage.
And to top it all off, the SMR hasn't made a dent in my swirls. After multiple apps, the swirls look almost the same. I've only done a section of the hood and a section of the trunk so far. Used foam, back and forth, in the garage, charismas to buff.
How can this product do wonders on a heavily swirled 88 cutlass, but on a 2001 silver alero, with light swirls, it does nothing?
Oh well, I'm just going to move on to my AIO and SG. I'll have to worry about the swirls next summer. the weather here is starting to turn cold.
I dunno, maybe I'm just a detailing misfit.
Thanks for reading.
