Here's my review, it's a bit different from all the others. Maybe its because I live in a sunny area and have my car outside all day while everyone else lives in a wet area with a garage...
I've had this product for 2 months and so far, I'm not really impressed. Right after I applied it, I tested out their "throw a towel on it and watch it slip off" and it did not slip off, but oh well, people make crazy claims like that for marketing just like their product lasting "5 years." My car is a black 02 accord that's never been garaged on a hot Los Angeles weather. For the first month and half I was really impressed with the product. Just rinse it with water and dry it and my car still looked waxed. I wash it at least once every other week with just water and sponge as they instructed and let me tell you, the tree sap, bird doo, or bugs does not come out as easily as some stated at the nico forums and their customer reviews on their website. I needed to hose the contaminant for a whole minute so the water can break it down before it can be wiped off, just like how u let dishes with food stuck on it sit in the water for a while so its easier to wash off. THE CONTAMINANTS DOES NOT "FALL" or "SLIP" OFF AS EASILY AS SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN OTHER FORUMS and THEIR WEBSITE STATED. Other people stated that they hose the DIRT right off, but dirt and contaminants are totally different. I am typing this right after I washed my car because I've noticed that the color of my car has become a lot duller (waxed my car with Zymol carnuba every month before I used this so I can tell whether my car is dulling or not), the paint felt like the car hasn't been waxed for a while (I waxed the car again with some leftover 5 star and the feel after the wax is like night and day). What also worried me was that I started to see oxidation (tiny round dull spots) on my paint (shouldn't happen with a waxed car). The water still beads a little, but only when I spray it VERY lightly (in other words, everything beads when you spray it lightly)
Its too bad their 5 year product only has a 30 DAY WARRANTY because I would have returned it and gotten my money back in a heartbeat.
My proof of purchase in case there's doubters.
Invoice No.: 5190 Order No.: 9708320 Date: 05/08/2004
I know its past the 30 day satisfaction guarantee but I would be much delighted if I can get some reimbusments for spending $50 on a wax that lasted me only 2 months.
Of course, this isn't a enthusiast detailer but what it sounds like is that 5 star shine is a mediocre sealant, packaged in a little bottle, marketted like it's the best thing since artifically made syrup, and has a jacked up price.
