#26 and S100........i've tried both of them and ...

To sum it all up once more, i used zaino, then S100 and it did look very good, yet i saw other cars driving by me and from different angles in parking lots, and to tell the truth it made me a bit annoyed, cause after all, zaino is supposed to have the edge over other wax or sealants(at least i think so) and my car alongside other's didnt have that special look, or if so it was barely visible.........so this afternoon i bought MEGS #26 which has carnauba+resin+polymers,silicones......i appled it on the rear passenger side door, next to S100(front passenger side door) and correct me mif mistaken, but the #26 seems to have more reflection and this i-dont-know-what that makes it look wow ! But i'm not jumping to conclusion yet as i have to see it somwhere like in the morning instead of in late afternoon where light is dim.





I really don't want to insult anyone here, and i mean it..........but i think megs' #26 make the finish look wetter, more reflection. Looking straight at the door i can barely make out the shape of the door...........in a word, it does seem to have something which i have yet to find, over S100.



Basically i'd like to hear from you all, that have tried both and which you find most appealing :wavey
 
I've read in a thread here that #26 looks quite a bit like Moose carnauba............it may all just be a matter of preference, still i think i prefer #26.



I'm after the edge, and yes my paint has been well prepared prior to it all.
 
I agree that 26 is a great product. I used it on a handful of cars and was impressed. I used it on a Green Chyrsler minivan and thought it provided a real nice glow!

#26 is awesome. It is one of the best looking products I've used.



If you think #26 looks good, try Medallion. Different, but just as good.

Yeah, the look is similar, more of a warm wet glow to S100's high gloss and reflections.
 
That's why all "wax tests" are nothing but a guide. You have to try the products on your vehicle and decide for yourself. The guides can be helpful in pointing out unusually good or poor products, but the ultimate choice is a matter of personal taste.
 
Chip just for the heck of it, if you have some Gold Class in your arsenal try the same exact side by side test against S100 and #26, I think you might be pleasantly surprised with the results. GC IMO is very underated for appearance.

To all others, thanks a lot for your input........so far #26 sem to be a keeper for me, yet i'll have to take another look at it in broad day light.



How about durability ? Is #26 durable ? I'd tend to think it is not so bad, as it has polymers(silicone) resins.

Anyone else use both S100 and #26?



If #26 is comparable it sure would make things easier for me. No bike shops in my area offer S100, so I have to purchase it on line. I can purchase #26 at local part stores.
 
I've also compared #26 to S100 and IMO they're very close but the #26 is darker. Now if you want to compare application and removal that's a different story. I've yet to find any product that applies and removes as easily as S100.
 
For a handsome look with a little bit of both #26's wetness and S100's shine, try the Medallion (which is also Meguiar's most durable product).... It doesn't darken quite as much as #26, but it's just as wet and a little bit more reflective. I use #26 in the summer, and now Medallion for the winter.



I just can't warm up to the look of Gold Class, and I don't know why, or what it is about it that I don't like.



The more I use Meguiar's products, the more convinced I am that the other products I've tried are great, but not better.

I agree. I've tried many different products, and a lot of them have given me great results. But the more I use Meguiars, the more I find myself buying more of theirs.



The #26 is my favorite wax. I think it is ridiculously easy to apply and remove. It also adds a very wet, shimmering look to my arctic pearl white. It doesn't dry white, stain my trim, or leave dust anywhere. I can't really comment on durability, as I never go more than a month without applying a wax (this is for any brand of wax).



A combo I like on my arctic pearl white is DACP (if needed), #9, #3, Gold Class Wax, topped with #26. This produces the elusive "pop" I've looked so hard for (I credit Mr Walker from Meguiars tech support for suggesting it).



Chip, like MBZ 500E said, try Gold Class wax. I think it is definitely underrated/overlooked by most enthusiasts. It will darken your metallic black, and give you a very reflective gloss without looking plasticy or "washed out" (whitish) in sunlight. It's great by itself, or add #26 over top for an even wetter look.

I'm not a big fan of Gold Class. It dusts up too much and I don't think it is very durable. If I want a highly reflective finish, I go with S100. Much easier to use.



I do like #26 though, I used it exclusively the first 7 years or so that I was detailing full time....and the Body Shop Pro line can't be beat IMO for paint prep.
 
I bought and tried Gold Class onmy black Passat .. took it off the next day .. went back to #26 .. mine you it looked great on my sisters Copper Mirano. I found GC amplified every little flaw , and if you have a black car .. you got them, on non-black you just don't see them.. BTW on the Mirano we topped the GC with Glanz and she never went back to GC.
 
As a general rule, i think one shouldn't stray from Meg's professional line......consummer's seem not to be as good, but this is merely an observation:)

I too thought the same about meg's as i dont like the consummer line at all, except for *plastX*.

So how are you guys using it?



I have #26 that I bought late summer/early fall and although I am impressed with its durability, it seems as if it masks my metallic black paint and makes it less metallic rather than bring it out.



I was under the assumption that you apply, wait 20 min or more and the wipe off. Also, wiping off is soo hard (i must be using too much).



What am I doing wrong?
