over $38,000 -!!!!!!!!! That's nuts.
A little Camaro history, IRCC...
Originally the Z/28 was the road race version and featured a SMALL 302 cubic inch V-8 (grossly underrated at 290hp). The SS could be had with a small block or a big block.
After the SS was dropped (72?) the Z/28 because the performance package until 2004 or whenever they stopped making the car. When the SS was re-introduced in '96, it was a higher performance varient of the Z/28.
Now it seems that Chevy is doing the opposite, with the SS being the base performance model and the Z/28 being the more powerful mode? Kind of a backwards step if you ask me...
Also, I was excited for the new Camaro, but after seeing a few in person, I think it is oversized and the interior looks cheesy. Oh well![]()
I think the size of the vehicle is very deceiving compared to the curb weight. I just looked up three cars for comparison, the Challenger SRT8, Camaro SS and Mustang Shelby GT500...looking at the cars you would think the Mustang is much smaller and would have a might lighter curb weight...not so much
Curb Weights:
Challenger - 4140 lbs
Camaro - 3857
Mustang - 3920
Dont just the weight of a car by it's size. I think the Camaro is a contender...as long as GM can support it's production!
I would buy one in a second over the other two that I listed!
I was just a little surprized by the size. I'd like to see one side by side with a '69 for a comparison.
After seeing one in person and getting in one, it seems bigger then the 69 model yr. But I'm waiting for it to cool down so maybe there be some on a lot to test drive first before going broke....![]()
I had a 1972 Z-28, last year of the LT-1 motor (350) and besides the first year (602) 1972 was the lowest product run with only 2750 made. Sure wish I had kept that car!
The new one - eh, too pricey and I'm not sure how Guv-Ment Motors will do.
