I find that when i wax the GN, the wax feels like it doesn't glide easy with the yellow foam so i have to put pressure. Is the wax supposed to glide like oil when being applied?

What wax products are you using?

Describe how you washed it? Shampoo or wax remover AKA DAWN?

IS that car fast or what?

what wax? carnuba? is it cold out (is the car paint temperature cold)

Maybe you could warm up the surface you are doing somehow (warm blowdryer or garage heater perhaps). I would think you could also warm the wax up by keeping it inside your home for a day before waxing or maybe wait for a sunny Jersey day. Waxes tend to melt at body temperature, try keeping your hand and sponge in the tin a little longer than usual and work it in the can for added friction .

But then again, I've never Blitzed in cold weather, other than football :D

If there is light oxidation on the surface of the paint, wax will not glide on easily. You might want to try polishing first and see if that helps. Overspray can also have the same effect, in which case, you would need to clay the paint.

If the paint is in good shape and the wax is still not gliding on, you may simply be using too much wax. A blob the side of a quarter should be sufficient to cover most of the hood.

On that vehicles paint, which we have discussed earlier try this.

Get a terry cloth covered application wax pad and first use a cleaner polish (dispersion lacquer and needs this cleaning).

Then using another clean terry cloth wax pad apply a wax or sealant that is a liquid, they have petroluem distillate cleaners that same as the paste type products, just a higher percentage.

This will clean and polish additionally. Once you have done this I believe you will find the finish much cleaner and have a better gloss.

The pure sponge applicators will always drag on your type of finish unless it is perfect. Even then, you will still feel more drag than on a urethane enamel clear.

Meguiars #26 and #9 Swirl Remover which actually work good on my car. Today was sunny so i took the car to work and during lunch, i went to check it out and the car is so much shinier, darker with these two products combined. I ordered Klasse and am waiting for it to arrive.

I did wash the car first with Gold Class(not a bad car wash), dried the car and made sure paint was clean and smooth and it was, then used #9 first, then #26 wax. Maybe its the lacquer paint. I'll go try a terrycloth applicator and see how that does.

There's not a lot of oxidation except for the bumpers and that spoiler. so I used a mild abrasive for them. when I apply the wax with the foam, it actually glides on easily with the first few strokes then after that it feels like i have to put more pressure to get the wax on the paint.

Is the wax supposed to be warm before you use it? Do you store it cold when not using it?

oh yeah, the GN IS a fast car. It doesn't take a lot of money to make it fast either. Go to gnttype.org and you'll find all the info on those cars.

I just switched to Blitz, and it is much- and I mean much- easier to apply. Meguiar's #26 is a great wax. Blitz is, incredibly, even better.

I know that Zymol likes you to keep their wax in the fridge (which I do). I keep my Blitz in my cool garage. It warms up quickly with the friction from the foam applicator.

I love the smell of Blitz in the morning!

Blackmirror,What I did to my 87GN was to was it with Dawn Blue, then used 3M Imperial Hand Glaze 1or2coats,2coats Klasse All In One then 2coats of Blitz wax, after I bought the Blitz the Souvian(sp?) wax was here on sale for half price,I wish I would have bought that wax,the only reason is that the blitz collects dust very quickly on the GN,heard the Souvian(sp?;) )does not collect dust, also what was recommended to me was that I should have used 3M finesse it <span style='color: red'>instead of the 3M Imperial hand glaze.

Hey Dennis, I got a bottle of IHG collecting dust in my garage, too.

3M Finesse It and Fine Cut Rubbing Compound get my vote now.

Forgot to tell you the condition of the paint --I took a picture of the Gn in the Garage and you can count the holes in the Peg board that is behind me on the wall i the reflection,,so it is a BlackMirror:p

Beautiful shine, nice work. The real quality of the shine shows up under the inside lighting as well as the sun shots. Love that color too.

I like the wheels too but the spokes look like they form Acura logos!

Great job on the Astin Martin. The car looks great:clap:

Very nice looking car. I love that color.:drool5:
