2007 Black Corvette - Complete Paint Correction

absolutely perfect work, pictures and documentation.

The reflections are stunning!!! perfect job David.

Can I ask if you tape the edges/gaps between panels when compounding with M105 and PFW?

is there a reason why you used terry cotton towels to dry? Do you like those better compared to a microfiber waffle weave?

Now that is paint correction !!!! Excellent turn around.I hope the owner to it to the so called detail shop to see what it looks like when done correctly. Great job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David,

I am in complete awe of the condition the previous "detail shop" delivered the vehicle to the customer . In the befores, it almost looks like the car had been wetsanded! Did they burn the paint in any areas? It looks like there is a burn mark on the drivers door about halfway down in one of the before pictures.

I am amazed how well you were able to bring the paint back to life!! It looks better than new now that you've worked you magic on it. You really earned your money on that one for sure!

The combination of products you used are spot-on. M105 does a great job on removing the deeper defects on the hard Corvette clear and leaves a pretty decent finish. SIP works great to really refine the paint and Ultrafina is the icing on the cake! I did a similar process to a black C6 I did a little while ago and worked great.

Very nice pictures and great job on the write-up!! Keep up the great work! :xyxthumbs

Let me get this straight......you used 4000 grit paper and lacquer thinner to "insure that there would not be anything on the surface that would interfere with the buffing process to follow"? After you said that the surface was contaminant free?

If it was contaminant free already, why do it? And even if it wasn't, why use 4000 grit paper and lacquer thinner?

I'll jump on this one being that I had the chance to actually see this 4000grit in eprson and use it. Its not like wetsanding paper in the traditional sense. Its like a mesh fabric sheet. The marring by it is soo minimal than a PC and 106ff can correct it. Sometimes when you clay, even with an aggressive claybar, you're left with contamination that will not budge. This mesh fabric gets the best of it, without installing excessive marring you would get from an aggressive claybar.

Also, if you notice in the before pictures, there are no back and forth wetsanding marks. I've seen the marring left from this mesh sheet under both halogens and sunlight and am quite excited to implement this into more details, even if its not directly on paint.

Great job David. I know all too well how much work that must have been to remove all that stubborn wool marring. You certainly earned your money on that one. Z06 wheels on a C6.

Spectacular work! I hope that the owner of that car got compensated by the hacks that messed up his car.

Thanks for the info joy.

Another car brought back from the brink of being "average" and transformed into "exceptional". Outstanding prep work and final results. The owner had to be thrilled.

Excellent work! Insane! Its mind boggling that another place would trash that car in the way that they did.

I liked how you stacked up the towels and rested the hood. Neat idea, I've never seen it.

It was nice to see Meguiar's #00 get in on an action shot. Its a fabulous soap that doesn't get mentioned here. I use it diluted for clay lube. You should also check out Meguiar's #62 for maintenance washes. It is another great performer from the body shop line.

Great job.
