For some reason I like doing my LSP's be hand , what's a good applicator to get ? either OTC or otherwise.

besides the common standard yellow foam pads, the blue viking comfort grip applicator pads are pretty nice. they can be found at autozone for around $2-$3.

Wal-Mart sells Meguires foam pads 2 for 1.97, as well as some blue MF round applicator pads for 1.97.

I, too, prefer applying LSPs by hand.

My vote goes to Pinnacle polishing pal. I bought some grey pads to go with it and it's absolutely great! pinnaclewax.com

Another vote for the polishing pal. I think Wolfgang makes one too. The pad can be removed for narrower areas and the system can use any velcro backed 4" pad that are available for Cyclo's. CMA is having a clearance on some their 4" pads and I just picked up some white finishing pads for about 4 bucks a pair. Aside from reducing hand fatigue, I think they provide a more even application and allow the job to be done more quickly. The pads also work beautifully with my WEN 4" polisher.

I usually do not do application by hand but when I have I have used the meguiars yellow foam applicators and some white mf applicators which I believe were meg's also. I've also tried the fiber-works yellow mf applicators which work pretty good too but again, I don't usually apply by hand.

When polishing by hand, it is crucial to apply even pressure to the surface, which is extremely hard to do without the right tools. The Polishing Pal mentioned above (there are a few manufacturers that make these) is one of those perfect tools for the job.

I have been using the yellow form applicator for hand application and after reading through the postings here, Polishing Pal might be up in my next shopping list ;)
