You are correct sir. :D

Just giving those exotics more of a run for their money :D

There are rumors out there that the hp in the GT was upped becuase they wanted to make sure the next Lightning that comes out wouldn't compete with it. The next Lightning is rumored to be 500hp. There are also rumors the next Mustang Cobra (or whatever they decide to call it) will also have around 500hp. Just a numbers game really.

550, even better! :D

gee, pretty soon the Mustang Cobra will be able to compete with the Vette! :p

Grrrrrr :grrr :D....... I've raced a few Vettes and it wasn't even close. Have yet to find a Z06, but I am told that at that point it's a driver's race. :nixweiss

I know u were just kidding around, but just wanted to throw that out there :D

What do you have done? Because a 330hp Corvette that weighs 3200lbs versus a 390hp Cobra that weighs 3800lbs is going to be a close race with equal drivers.

Then I guess the 2 guys in the non-Z06 Vettes I've raced (1 from about 15, the other from about 50) couldn't drive. I am completely stock.

Just so you know though, I nor anyone I've ever talked to has had any trouble at all with the non-Z06 Corvettes in stock form. I do not claim to be a wonderful driver either.

Just tellin ya my experience :D

i had heard it was to keep the viper's numbers lower than the GT's. Ford cant have the same power coming out of a car that costs twice (literally) that of a viper.

i dont get it though...

the viper costs 80k +/-. the GT costs 150k. with that extra 70k, you could add a few snails to the viper and wipe the floor with the GT, could you not? not to mention (IMO) the viper looks so much better. :p

Actually here is a comparison test between the 05 GT and an 04 SRT-10 Viper. The GT is an engineering vehicle with the lower HP numbers and the Viper did NOT "wipe the floor with it". They were pretty evenly matched. Now with the higher production numbers the GT would come out a bit ahead. Does it cost more, yes. Would I buy one over a Viper, YES. Ford has already announced the pricing will be $139,000. Heck, if I had 85 grand to spend on a car 139 grand wouldn't be that far out of reach.

i meant after modding the viper. i believe its henessey that has a 9 (? cant remember too well, correct me if i'm wrong) second viper.

both great cars, i just prefer mopars over fords. :up .

Sorry, but that video really pisses me off...we discussed this on a local racing forum. The Brits are OBVIOUSLY biased. They're comparing a sports car to exotics and complaining how it didn't win. Then they're complaining how a $50,000 car doesn't have the interior quality of a $95,000 car. If 10+ magazines say the 2005 Vette is a world class sports car, and 2 biased British guys say it's mediocre while also referring to us as "the colonies" and saying how our government gets our noses in other people's business, who are YOU going to believe?!

Wait, I don't think it's negative at all. If anything, the overall tone is positive compared to their usual Rover ranting and French quality bashing.

Watch it again. Yes, they're critical, but it's true. Compared to similarly priced TTs or SLKs, the Vette's interior quality is horrific. (Where did it say they expected the interior quality of a $95,000 car?) Nor did they "complain how it didn't win" either. The only comparison was their UN drag race. He described the C6 as what it is... crude, but lots and lots of fun. That's nothing to be ashamed about.

Keep in mind the tall one with bad teeth is so biased against Americans that he owns two Fords (a Focus and a GT), while the short one has a Dodge Charger.

after watching that video, i just have to laugh. the error they've made, not properly researching the car, is awful! leaf springs? er, i think the vette is equipped with one leaf spring that works in conjuction with its independent rear suspension. duh! but top gear is great entertainment, jeremy clarkson and that other guy are an okay driver. tiff needle is way better and much more entertaining. i'm sure he'd be making the vette do power slides. :D

but well, like all reviews, who cares what the reviewer say if you like the product?

btw, did anyone see the new 2005 'vetter commercial? pretty cool, although for me, i dream to engine sounds, not "jumpin' jack flash." ;) i guess that's why i loved the ford gt commercial showing it going around a race track. now that's a car commercial! :xyxthumbs

i'm a ford guy all the way ( the honda i drive proves it :D )..seriously i love ford and will own a mustang one day...but from what i've been told - since vettes came out except maybe the 1st gen 6bangers..they have always had inverted leaf spring in the rear, that is one of their trademarks as is the "plastic-fiberglass composite whatever else they use" body...i might be wrong but im pretty all gen vettes use the inverted leaf spring does anyone know:confused:

Belated reply, but as far as the wheel gap on the Vette, you'll notice that the car is on an uneven surface in the pic. The front passenger side wheel is raised, if you've jacked up a car recently it makes sense, but isn't noticable in the pic.

I can't remember the magazine, but the test diver/author mentioned that Ford was specific on this price... Obviously the car should be worth a great deal, and does carry a heavy price tag, but Ford also kept in mind their old rivalry with Ferrari. Ford produced a car that's better in many ways than the Modena and costs not $140k (price for Modena) but $1k less.

Pretty funny, but I also think Ford needs to do a little more homework if they want to step in the ring with an Enzo.
