Really nice car Scott. Glad you're back on track after that incident....No wonder I haven't seen too many of your posts on C&B.

The back therapy is what is really eating into my time. The earliest the therapist is there is 8:45, so by the time I go through therapy and have my back adjusted, it is 9:45 or so, meaning I am running a good hour late the rest of the day. I finally got cut back to 3 days a week, and get re-evaluated a week from this coming Wednesday. My neck feels fine now, but my lower back on the left side is still bothering me. I'm okay when I am bending down and my back is stretched out, but standing up is what is causing problems. The pain is slowly decreasing though. Therapy is a PITA but I'd rather put up with it than rush through it and have problems 6 months from now that I have to pay for.

I have 3 rolls of film on CDs I haven't even loading on my computer yet, and 3-4 I have already resized but not uploaded to my gallery. Probably going to end up being a 300 pic C&B thread when I finally have the time! :chuckle:

Congrats on the new ride, it looks very nice! Last Nissan I had went 215K without any trouble, but being a northern car it was quite rusty by then. I'm sure yours will look as good at 226K as it does today.

I can hardly wait!

Welcome to the club Scott!!!

I would get a clear bra on the front if you can, helps tremendously. I secretly hope that someone hits me in the front this winter so I can get it re-painted.

Nice ride, Ozz. Any mods?

The hood has some bug bomb etching that is permanent and some typical Nissan chipping. I have refered a ton of well deserved business to a body shop and he said during a slow time this winter, drop my car off for a few days and he will give me a really good deal on repainting the hood and front bumper...then it is off to get a clear bra.

Nice choice Scott. Recommended mods:

Front Strut Tower Brace (I went with Otto Racing, can be had for pretty cheap on ebay. This one is flat, the round ones tend to rub the engine.).

Rear Sway Bar (I went with Stillen. Other makes attach to the rear multi-link beam and have been known to squeak).

See you around the org!

Hate to steal the thunder here but I am somewhat in the same situation.

I found a 2002 Maxima SE with the VIN ending in 446509 but has a whopping 139,279 miles on it. The dealer it's being sold at is asking for $6500, a figure I could afford.

My biggest worry is also the high mileage on a 5 year old vehicle. I've been told to absolutely avoid it at all costs especially since it's not a Toyota/Honda but I don't want to do discredit Nissan. I haven't gone in depth such as Carfax or even showing up for a test drive since I don't know if I really want to take a chance with the vehicle.

Your insurance will be through the roof if your still in NJ. 02-03 Maximas get the HID headlights stolen all the time where I live; and is unfortunately one of the reasons why I didn't choose to get one :angry

Yah I live near the border of Somerset and Morris county so things aren't as wild here as they are elsewhere. But I remember having the Xenons make the news a few years ago when they kept being stolen all around the tri-state. I was hoping the theft deterrent that Nissan installed would help with the situation but I don't know. How much of a premium should I expect (I am extremely expensive to begin with, a 17 year old male in NJ)

As a former owner of an A33.5, one thing I can tell you to look out for is oil burning. Many folks with the early VQ35 reported oil burning. Also, make sure they do not overfill the crankcase with oil to compensate. I looked at a 2003 SE Ti Edition but after I checked the oil, I said no.

Definitely pay close attention to whether the TSBs were done. The main ones you want to watch are the accelerator stop and the hood.

I had bought some security bolts for my '02 for $10 and no problems.

Back from the dead!

I am already pushing 137,000 miles on my Maxima. Drivetrain seems solid, still pulls hard...ask the SN95 Mustang GTs about my tail lights!

I've replaced the thermostat, Bank 1 rear O2 sensor and Bank 1 camshaft position sensor. I also had to replace a wheel bearing but that appears to be a reassembly problem (lock nuts reused or not adequately torqued down allowing the nut to back off) and not normal wear and tear. Spent less on the car in the past 10 months than I did the last summer I had my 626.

Oil consumption is about 1 quart per 2000 miles and had stayed constant. From what I've read on maxima.org, that is pretty typical for an early VQ35...and mine was the 91st Maxima built with that engine. Nissan considers oil consumption at a rate of less than a quart per 1000 miles to be normal. :nixweiss

Overall, I really like the car. Great power, decent mileage for the engine size. Nice large interior too. :)
