2 Day Makeover (complete vehicle rejuvenation)

Thank you very much for the tips. I cant believe i forgot about this, I need a spur to clean the wool pads. Unbelievable.

White_07_G6_GT- I'd say the paint hardness was somewhere in the middle. Not too hard, not too soft...

BlackElantraGT- Thanks! I only took a couple pictures of the interior. I spent most of my time on the exterior.

mose- Yes, I do have a heated garage. Thank god!

I usually run over the pad with a spur and blow out the pad with compressed air after every panel. Nothing works better than compressed air. You wouldn't believe the dust that comes out of it.

Josh- I only had to wetsand a 6 inch spot on the trunk lid and a small spot on the roof. All of the other correction work was done with M105. Have you had the chance to try M105 out yet? Great stuff!

What's M105? never used it.

What a rescue on the Pontiac you have done Rick, it seems Meg's got a hit on their hands. You did a outstanding job on the finish, it truly is a amazing turnaround!!!!!!!!!! :bow  :bow

Josh- M105 is a new super-micro non-diminishing abrasive compound made by Meguiars. It is extremely fast cutting and leaves an amazing finish for a compound. It is completely different than any other compound I have ever tried. It will remove 1200 grit sand marks and leave the paint just about ready for a finishing polish (depending on the paint). It is a huge time saver. You need to buy yourself a bottle!

jimmie jam- Ha,ha.. Thanks!

miahman98- Thanks!

zoomzoom mazda5- Meguiars definitely did a great job with this product! I can't wait to do more details with it.

CaptainFocker- I am getting so sick of winter! Thanks.

gusbubba- Thanks! I really wish the sun would have come out though for some full sun pics.

jetset4me- Thanks. Today was about 50 degrees here, so hopefully all the snow will melt soon and the nice weather will come soon.

Do you really need to rub it in on your sig? (chilling out in sunny SoCal) ha, ha... ;)

[quote name='RickRack']integritydetail- I don't have a paint thickness guage any longer, but I have done some pretty heavy duty correction work when I did have it and compared readings before and after the correction. It it very minimal and not as much as you would think. The vehicle has factory paint, besides the back bumper, so I felt pretty safe with my process.

I just started using a rotary a couple months ago and am still a little afraid, but seeing how much you corrected, I feel much better. I've never used a guage because of cost so I was just wondering, thanks!

The car looks better than new, good job!

Very true. It's amazing how much dusty polish(abrasive) residue is still embedded deep within your pad (wool or foam) that doesn't get removed with normal spurring. You did a very nice job. I'm anxious to see motor & interior pictures.

Question = Why did you use Intensive Polish after 105? Are you not able to go from 105/wool to Ultrafina? Also, do you think more cut/correction(less passes) could have been achieved using a Heavy Cut wool pad instead of a Medium Cut one? EDGE's yellow is pretty strong too in retrospect.

What a shocker that is some amazing work man. I wish there was someone around here I knew that could do turnarounds like that.
