Love seeing that sort of work, what a great result. It really shows the skills of the detailer to get that result.

Thank you!

Amazing work there Chad, and definitely taking it to the next level (or two). Work like that is only done by those with extensive experience at major paint correction...and you obviously have the experience and the skills!

:bow:bow

Thanks Todd! Still wish I could have had it done for you by the 7th though. :D

This thread is excellent!! Thank you so much for doing such a great job on the write up and explanation Rasky. Can you imagine how difficult and different the results would have been if you didn't sand this car? Probably not even comparable. You gave justice to this car's paint by doing what you did. :woot:

Normally I would finish sanding a car out with 3M Trizact 3000 grit disks, which makes the compounding step a breeze in itself, but these 4000 grit Abralon disks made it even easier!

Ahh man, now you got me thinking about these 4000 disks instead of my normal 3000 Trizact. Especially with doing the correction with DA. Adding it to me try list.

It definitely would not have looked the same. What was crazy is that there was still some of the deep marring left behind by the "rocks in a bottle" compound the painter used even after sanding! :furious:

It could have just been the paint I was working on too David as I didn't try them side by side on the same car. If you like I can send you a few disks to try out. ;)

Thank you again for doing that Chad. I've got a 68 Pro Street Camaro coming to me in a little over a week for the same thing and will be sanding with the PC this time. Should be fun to try and yours is a great example of what to shoot for! PM me any additional tips if you have some you'd be cool with sharing.

What sanding system are you going to be using? :)

PC with the 1500 and 3000 Trizact

Nice. :2thumbs:

Check out Mike Phillips articles over on AG if you haven't already. The 3M is very similar to the Meguiars system and you don't want to use too much water with them. ;)

Yep been reading up a lot, and saw his too, through one of your posts i think. I've got like 11 tabs open in my browser right now all about it lol.

Chad, I'm taping up the Camaro right now and I came back in here to make sure I was taping all the necessary body lines and it looks like we're on the same page :) Everything looks good so far, though the readings on the C-pillar have some sections in the mid 4's and the roof is mostly in the high 4's and low 5's which has me a little worried...

That's awfully low for a repaint! Not sure I'd sand on a car with those readings. This Firebird had readings 240 micron range (9.5mil)
