1968 Firebird, Full wet sand and buff: Rasky's Auto Detailing

Pretty amazing work. The results really do speak for themselves. I will be purchasing the sanding kit shortly to do a full wetsand job on a show Jetta; I'm glad that it worked out so well for you. Congrats on the wedding!

Awesome work!! Been my dream car for a long time now!

Could we get some more info on the sanding discs? Where you got them and how they stack up agasint the Trizact ones?

I have been wanting to experiment with sanding and am looking for just the right discs to do it with.

THanks......

Here are some pics showing the two disks. I'm out of the 3M Trizact right now but I did have a used one laying around.

As you can see the 3M is half or less than half as thick as the Abralon

Looking at a close up of the Abralon you can see that the abrasives are on a weaved like cloth which allows water and air to pass through.

I still need to play with the some more but I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. ;)

Nice work...I have been using the Tri-zac system for a good two to three years now. However, no matter how much I keep the sanding disc clean with an excessive amount of water, I can not keep the surface 100% "PIGTAIL-FREE"...I have used my Mirka finish sander with a 3/32" orbit, my Dynabrade general purpose sander, my Porter Cable and a Snap-On sander...Even my friend who is a painter at a very reputable body shop in Arlington, Va. has the same problem...The 3M rep just gave him some new sanding discs with tiny perforrated holes in them and they still cause pigtails...I'm thinking about going back to doing everything by hand....Sorry for the long post but here is my question...How did you like the Mirka paper compared to the Tri-Zac? And do you run into the same problem with the 3M paper?

Again, nice work and I appreciate any tips that you may have...

Amazing work there Chad, and definitely taking it to the next level (or two). Work like that is only done by those with extensive experience at major paint correction...and you obviously have the experience and the skills!
