Rinseless Roundup

Considerably more solution is used in a rinseless wash. Waterless product are have more polymers to encapsulate the dirt because they don't have the added water to help protect the paint. And because polymers cost more than water, WW are considerably more expensive to use. But, you don't need a bucket.

It is hard to tell in the video, but the 660 GSM MFs I was using for the first wipe probably held about 8oz of solution (maybe more). The method I demonstrated is an amalgam of rinseless and waterless techniques.

To me, the greater the solution, the greater the amount of dirt I can remove. I will tackle much dirtier vehicles with a rinseless wash than a waterless. In my spectrum of uses:

QD - freshly washed car
WW - dusty to very lightly dirty
Rinseless - dirty (add foaming and pressure rinse to attack even dirtier)
Traditional - very dirty.

The other areas I frequently use WW are the door & trunk jambs and final wheel clean (after more aggressive methods). Just easier to control.

what's the difference between a rinseless wash and a waterless wash?

Other then less water...

The formulas can be quite different. Much like asking what the difference between a traditional car soap is and a rinseless wash is; or a rinseless wash and a waterless wash.

Traditional car washes require an adequet volume of water (5 gallons is recommended) and require flushing the surface with water to remove the residue.

Rinseless car washes require a minimum of 2 gallons of water (more is better) and work by encapsulating dirt and allowing to float off of the surface. Unlike traditional washes, they do not require a volume of water to remove residue.

Waterless car washes are designed to be used with a minimal amount of water. They encapsulate dirt and attach it to the cleaning towel/mitt.

Ultimately, all three styles of products perform the same task: They clean your car. The way that they clean your car is vastly different which is why the car care industry has adopted the definitions above. I understand it can be confusing, so I hope the above helped. :bigups

There are plenty of great waterless wash products that perform the functions you listed: Optimum Opti-Clean, BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash, Detailer's Waterless Wash, Utlima Waterless Wash, Chemical Guy's ECO Wash, Griot's Garage Waterless Wash, and of course, your preference, Poorboy's Spray & Wipe Waterless Wash.

Some of the waterless wash product can be used as both a rinseless wash or a waterless wash, such as Ultima, where as some are designed for their specific task, such as BLACKFIRE.

Excellent reply, I know the terminology can be confusing, but you summed it up perfectly.

Great fragrance. Used at the 1 oz per gallon, it does clean well. Is very slippery and will suds up on you.

Theoretically, it leaves nothing behind (obviously, I cannot prove this) so, if you like your finish, D114 will leave it unmolested. I bought D114 because of this property but not exactly for that reason. To me, D114 is my rinseless to use pre-correction. But I am probably just overthinking it.

D114 does its job well but, for 50% less per wash, I'll take Pinnacle's beautiful finish - for maintenance washes anyway. It does have its place in the stable, though.

Another new-comer has also made its way into the fold. After I get a handle on it, I will add it, too.

Note - I currently have no plans on getting the new ONRW and would encourage a similar entry for it here - for the sake of completeness - by another member who has tried it. I'm sure one day I'll get around to it.

One day could be next week! ;)

No you are not overthinking it.
Michael Stoops said if you use a high concentration, RFEW will strip the surface clean and remove some old wax too.

I use RFEW to remove oils from polishing when needed.

Thanks for the additions Mike !!!

I liked the gloss and slickness left from the Pinnacle LGRW, but I thought it was a little easy on the cleaning ability. I can see using it in the dry summer season but around here I get to much bonded contamination in the winter or wet season.

I had the chance to use Meg's D114 Express wash and was very impressed. I like the fact that it left my LSP unmolested and had good cleaning ability. I have seriously considered getting a gallon as it was a very good rinseless wash.

Mike, I have used the new ONR+C. I can say that if you have and like the newer ONRv3 you should at least try a small bottle. It cleans well and leaves a great gloss and slickness like if you were using ONR and then following it up with OCW.

What newcomer do you have?!?!?

Yes. I polished the CQuartz off of my Tiburon and replaced it with Hard Body. Figure I want give it its best chance.

I can't wait to here your thoughts on all your Wolfs products. I have yet to try them yet. But have seriously considered HB as an upgraded sealant option.
