What's the best way to clean your sheepskin wash mitts after a washing job?

I rinse them in clear water to remove soap and place them on top of a broom handle to air dry. when they get grease stains or tar I usually demote them to wheel, lower pannels and wells.

Same here. I just use and empty long neck beer bottle to dry mine :D

Well..
I've been washing them in the washing machine on the gentle cycle in cold water.
Then in the dryer for only a minute or two on a very low setting to fluff the wool then let sit on an air only glove dryer.
I have had good success this way.
For when the mitts get black or grease stains on them, I use 'Shout' spot remover let it soak, then wash as above.
The mitts come out as new as ever.
I just wondered if there was another way.

It sounds like your process is working great for you. Make sure to let them dry completely to avoid rot and you are good to go.

I will wash some of mine in the washer but not all of them. I have a few that are nice but try are t durable enough for the washer. Those will get hand washed in a bucket with microfiber cleaner.

I use a Dr. Pepper bottle to dry the mitts. I like to cut off the ends to open it up more

I get maybe...... 7 or 8 washes out of one then it begins to fall apart and must be replaced(the hairs start falling out or the seam splits).
I figure you should get more than that especially being I'm giving it special attention combined with how much one mitt costs, should it not last longer?

Long time back I switched away from the sheepskin mitts because they didn't last very long. Now I use a wash mitt I got from AG. Don't recall the name. It's round and made of the same type foam as the RO pads.

I have been thinking about going back to a sheepskin mitt bc I like the way they clean (or at least what I think I recall).

I'll put up with the troubles rather than use anything but sheep skin.
I don't trust anything else for myself or for others I detail for.
Until they come up with a synthetic material that works and protects exactly like sheep skin, I got no choice.
I would rather they weren't so expensive being they don't last very long.

How many washes do you guys get out of your mitt before it needs to be replaced?

Honestly, I use it till it falls apart, if it is shotty looking and not working like it use to. I never wash and reuse my sheepskin wash mitts or microfiber towels. I always use new ones. It is costly, but I am too picky.:wall lol

Any tips on where to buy, what brands are better? I think the last time I bought one was a Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart 'used' to carry sheep skin mitts but they don't anymore for some reason (at least the ones I've been to).
I buy mine from a local Advanced Auto, they cost $13.00 plus tax.
They are distributed by Auto Craft (mitts are made in China), part number: AC254.
All sheep skin mitts from auto part stores are made in China.
Unless Chemical Guys runs a serious sale on there mitts and I need a few things for a full order, buying them locally is more cost effective.
Besides, there's cost $40.00 which is absurd!
