I was thinking about buying the green machine but after looking on E-Bay I'm thinking these must be a poor design their are so many selling refurbished and returns that are slightly used that I'm thinking this thing will not last more than a few times.
Anyone have real experience with the little green machine and how long they will last.

I have the heated one and it's over 5 years old. the capture tank is a but grungy but it still works and I like using it it's not the best out ther but it works very well for what it is.

I would definitely want the heated one.
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else own one of these machines.

Yeah we have one and use it a couple of times a week. There a must if you have trained indoor pets. They know where the litter box is but don't know it's OK to use it when puking up a fur ball. We've had it about 4 years and think it's great. It isn't ultra heavy duty but with a little bit of care you shouldn't have an issues with it.

I've toyed with the idea before, but each time have backed down. Someone needs to sell you on one, because if they do I'll most likely follow. :)

I have looked at getting one but I hear the tank is small so you have to clean it our several times like when doing carpets in vehicles.

I had the heated one years ago, I used it for about 4 years before it went out. Can't say that I was dissatisfy at all. I just wore mine out, the section part stopped working.

I did see that Dirt Devil has a similar model and wondered if it was as good or better.

The only draw backs that I had with the LGM was the solution and recovery tanks are small and you care refilling and emptying them a lot on larger jobs

The hose is very short so you have to move the whole unit with you.

I should also add that an upright model rug cleaner can be a good choice, the motors are stronger and they have external hoses with a large assortment of tools. The solution tanks are also larger. I have one here and use it once in a while

I used one for about 5 years and it worked really well. In fact I still have it and use it around the house. My one and only complaint was the tanks are small and if your working on a big project you will find yourself refilling a lot. I used it everyday when I was mobile, and put it through hell. As long as you use a good solution you will have no probs with these machines.

I bought a refurbished one probably 5-6 years ago and used it quite a bit for a year or two; it did do a pretty good job for being an inexpensive extractor. However something in it broke and I wasn't able to repair it, so I chucked it and haven't had one since.

Now, with that said, I must also specify that the unit I had was of a different design than the ones they now sell, so they may be better or more durable but I can't say as I have no experience with the new ones.

Yep, my tank has some kinda funky discolorazation going on also. I figured it was the solution I use :hmmm:

Yep, I own one :dnaughty

Yep, we have a retarded cat. He will eat anything you put in front of him, then barf it right back up. Seems he will never vomit on the hardwoods or kitchen floors, he always goes to a bedroom to vomit on the carpet :vomit:

Yep, and you won't have to pay shipping Jared. :rockon

Yep, this is true. However I only get maybe a dozen cars a year were I even have to use this thing. 95% of the cars I do, only the drivers floor mat gets a little dirty

Yep, the hose is way to short. Wish they had an extension you could purchase :thinking

Yep, this is without doubt the only piece of detailing equiptment that my lovely bride hasn't given me this

All in all, I would say for $125 it is well worth it. I wouldn't buy a used/refurbished unit though :swirly:

Hey, you guys could do a group buy. Get a whole pallett of LGM's :idea

I've had a heated unit for a couple of years, 2 thumbs up! It gets used 4 or 5 times a year on the cars and occasionally for in-house spot cleaning.

Reading a lot of reviews I get the impression many of the returns are due to the sprayers quitting due to clogging. I take the precaution of THOROUGHLY flushing out the unit each time it's used and haven't had that problem. I used to use the Bissell cleaning solution but have recently stopped using the cleaner tank altogether. I now spot clean with Folex and use APC+ 4:1 out of a spray bottle and only use the LGM to extract. I do use the cleaning tank for distributing warm water before extraction, everything seems to come up cleaner that way. As the hose could be a bit longer and the included attachments don't get into some of the places I need to I always finish up with the Shop Vac on the cars. Very little drying time left using that method.

I'd also skip the refurbs. I picked up a LGM at Wally World on sale for 85 bucks. Shop around, they're out there.

It isn't designed to be a high volume, heavy duty unit but it works well for what it was intended. IMO, keeping it cleaned out after use enhances longevity. YMMV.

:thought: $85....Damn, Target got me again :jawdrop:

Lmfao I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to deal with that.

It never fails, anything I purchase I already know I'm going to get the ole 20 question routine :surrender

I swear that woman can squeeze $5 out of $1

Oh well, if it were not for her, I probally would be living in a van down by the river :passout:

I want something to use in the house as well as the vehicles.
Done some research and looks like the best for a low price is a Hoover steam vac silver model # F59150900 it sells at WM for $139.00

Hundreds of reviews and people really like it.
It has much larger tanks than the LGM with a 28 FT. cord and 8 ft.. hose with heater and lot of accessories.
I think I will pull the trigger on one of these.

Well, I will be waiting on a full review

I'm pretty sure this unit does not have a built-in heater. The word "HEATED" in the ad refers to YOU heating the water and adding it to the tank. Just double check to be sure.

You are correct it does not have a heater you must pour hot water into it.

Unfortunately this is the only one I can find that has a 8ft hose all the rest either don't have a hose or they have a 18 inch hose.

The reviews all say this works really well, I have my water heater turned up to where it is really hot and since I got to add water anyway I don't mind using the hot water. Just one less thing to go bad on it.

In the reviews someone ask how hot of water you can use and the reply was use it right out of the tap and it leaves the carpet warm.

Someone else also said they had used it with cold water and the cleaning solution worked nearly as good.

I'm going to town tomorrow and look at all the different models and see what I can come up with.
Maybe I can buy as an option a long hose for a model that comes with a short hose will just have to check it out.

I want to be able to clean carpet and furniture as well as the vehicles so I need a bigger machine with a hose attachment.
