I'm not sure that's the answer either. See below.
TRigger. I bought a nice pump sprayer from home depot...will not hold pressure now after a year.

While you could empty them of product after each use, that seems to be a rather backward way to handle the problem.
You could also set them in a bucket to catch the leaking product, but who in the world would want a bunch of buckets around just to hold some bottles that might leak?
I can understand the pump being affected by the chemicals, but the having a plastic bottle that doesn't leak shouldn't be all that much of a challenge.

Much as I like the idea, I think they will go on my tried it, didn't work, move on list.

My biggest regret is ever recommending them to others that can now share my problem.
:sorry: about that.

Well then what are you gonna do now about dispersing chemicals? Go back to trigger sprayers? I accept your apology Charles(but not nescecary) Hey we have all made mistakes.

Sooo....I visited F/D today. Are you guys talking bout those little 40 0z pump sprayers? I thought we were talkin bout the 2 1/2 gallon Pump Sprayers like you use for your lawn. They only had tha 1. And it wouldn't even hold pressure off the shelf:wall so I passed on the sprayer... but I did hit the candy isle for $6

Just an update/bump: in Canada, at a store called Dollarama, they have the pump sprayers like the ones sold at Family Dollar - same pump mechanism, but a "pop bottle" clear plastic holding bottle. 1 liter/2.3 pints. $2.00. Certainly not industrial quality, but since they're sold as plant misters, I guess they'll do the job.

Since I buy a lot of my chemicals in gallon containers I needed small bottles I bought them at a place called Sally's it is a womens hair place but they sell all kinds of plastic bottles.
Not cheap but they are good quality bottles.

I bought my chemical sprayers from Car Brite again not cheap but very nice sprayers.
These sprayers will spoil you they are sooo much better than what you get when you buy a QD with a sprayer head on it.

Charles, the main issue that comes with a cheap pressurized sprayer is the thin wall. The parts most susceptible to wear and blowout are the bottom feet that rub against the floor. It wears quicker if the floor is broom finished concrete.

Chapin is having an online sale.

Since we are updating.
The one Family Dollar pump up pressurized sprayer I purchased last May is still going strong. It appeared to be identical to the previous two that leaked except for the price increasing to $3. So far, no leaks or problems. Same Spray & Wipe use as before.

I have purchased some dispensing bottles from a beauty supply store locally, but not any spray type bottles.
I have also purchased several dispensing and measuring type bottles from U.S. Plastics. They have bottles very similar to the Micro-Restore bottles and I use those for a lot of my concentrated products such as Meg's APC, Meg's glass cleaner, DP RW&G, ONR. Never tried any of their sprayers.

The pump up sprayers I had leak were a heavy plastic. Probably close to 1/8" thick.
The leaks were in the molding seam where the two halves of the bottle are put together during the manufacturing process.

FWIW, I also have some of the AG pump up sprayers that are also working great. They did cost quite a bit more that $3 though. :)

As far as trigger spray bottles, I have paid anywhere from 88 cents to 6 or 7 dollars for them and haven't had any problems with any of them.
My one trigger spray bottle disappointment was some ZEP spray bottles I got at Home Depot for about $4 or $5 each. They worked OK, but the trigger was not at all convenient for me to use. I ended up giving the sprayers away and using the bottles with my el-cheapo sprayers.

As far as the Family Dollar pump up sprayer is concerned, based on my experience with the last one, I wouldn't be afraid to try another one, but I don't think I would buy a 1/2 dozen till I was sure the one was going to work.
Maybe they had a problem and corrected it in the later version.

Its no uncommon for the sprayers to quit or leak. The cost of a good spray head is at least 4-5 dollars. This is without the bottle. I get mine from a local distributor and they work fine $3.00 with the bottle. I am sure Steve and others have the better bottles available. The answer is "YES " you do get what you pay for most times. Don't buy sprayers from a garden ctr. The sprayers are not for anything but water or plant food in most cases.

Someone said you should clear the sprayer with water before putting away. This is a great practice in most cases. Charles, try different products in the dollar store sprayers and see if its isolated to just a few products.

I see most 2 qt pump up sprayers/bottles are in the $15/25 range. Most have a better chemical resistant seal and sprayer parts.

Most janitorial supply places have the chemical resistant spray heads that last with whatever product you are using.:howdy

Evidently I'm not making myself clear. :wall

None of my pump up sprayer problems were in any way related to the spray nozzle or the pump.
The bottles leaked!
I have had no problems with the spray nozzles regardless of the product used in them.

FWIW, I have used cheap ($1) trigger spray bottles and expensive ($7) trigger spray bottles and have not had any problems with any of them.

Yes, CharlesW, please be more clear! What is it about the trigger mechanism you have a problem with? :idea

Re: Family Dollar Sprayers leaking

Yes.

Interesting.
I haven't had a problem with the pump or spray mechanism at all.
They are actually developing a pinhole leak in the very bottom of the bottle itself.
And yes, they were $2.50 last year and are $3 this year.
Big Leeger: I now have a couple of extra pump/spray mechanisms that you are welcome to.
If you want them, PM me.

Sounds like the bottles are just made cheep, try another brand. I am sure dollar store has them made, or gets them premade from the cheepest place on the planet.

:inspector: Charles, take your chemical "ACP, S@W, S@G" WITH YOU. See if the tanks leak before you walk out of the store next time.:rofl:rofl:yay:lmfao:yikes::yikes::notme::notme::notme:

You guys kill me posting this crap, you try and use a tool for a buck then wonder why it has a hole in it later.:passout::passout:

Sounds like some mope on another board that posted about a buffer. He has a flex paid full price for the thing. Then wants to buy a new g110v2, but wants the store that sells the thing to him to take it back if he don't like the thing. "Sounds like penny wise, and dollar foolish"..... I bet he eats out then goes back the next day to the restaurant and wants his money back for the meal.

I bought two sprayers from Lowes made for bleaching vinyl siding. They are chemical resistant and very well made. The down side is they cost $17 each. But I think they are a bargain since they are made to last.

Well, it could be considered a "beware of this product" post, regardless of the cost. Just because something doesn't require time payments doesn't mean that it isn't something that may catch the attention of others on the forum, and in the case of something having a poor record, it would be doing the forum members a favor by letting them know of the flaws before they bought it . If a person posted about a $450,000 car having some flaws, it might be read, but most of the members here (I'm guessing) can't afford that expensive of a car, so the warning is moot. A warning about something that might be bought by many is useful.
The same thing can be said about praising cheap stuff. If it's an exceptional value, ie-works as well as something 5X the price, it is beneficial to let others know about it-even if it is only a couple bucks.

Sounds to me like this person wants to have a "Money Back Guarantee." Quite a few companies have this policy. Some don't. I don't see a problem in asking about it. If the company says 'no,' that's their perogative, but then the customer has the right to look elsewhere to do business.

Just my thoughts. Maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture.:hmmm:

Spoken like a true jenius. :)

My personal feeling is that if a company sells a product to do a job, that product should do the job it was sold for regardless of the price.
In the case of the FD pressurized sprayers, the first ones didn't the last one did.

.

I've bought the heavy duty spray bottles fro US Plastics and they were great quality and quite cheap. I think they were about 3 bucks a set.

What spray pattern do you get out of the AG pump sprayers. I can only get a stream and would prefer a spray pattern.

I tried the AG pump sprayer with the wand sprayer. I had the same results you had without the wand and had only a dribble out of the wand. I paid $20 and hated it. I then bought the Lowes sprayers I wrote about above and have been totally satisfied. MUCH better and $17.
