Who said this?

I don't know, but it sounds like it could be a Charles Dickens thing. Oliver Twist or something.

Or maybe Dr. Suess? :crazy2:
Actually I have no idea. It was my father's answer every time I said I wanted something. Either that or, "yeah and people in hell want ice water." :D

So, here are the "not yet answered" quotes so far (I think):

"If wishes were fishes, we'd all have a fry. If horse turds were biscuits we'd eat till we die."

"Luck is the residue of design"

"If it weren't for luck I guess I'd win every one."

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves."

"The most sensitive nerve in the human body runs from the Heart to the Pocketbook."

"There was a man once upon a time that visited Washinton...Just so he could be close to his Money."

"He was quicker on the Deposit....But She was faster on the Withdraw."

"You cannot Legislate the Poor into Freedom. Without Legislating the Wealthy out of Freedom."

"What 1 person receives without Working for. Another person must work for, Without Receiving"

"The Gov't can't Give to Anybody. That the Gov't must not Take from Somebody."

"When 1/2 tha people get the idea they don't have to work because the other 1/2 is gonna take care of them.....And when the other 1/2 thinks it does no good to work because somebody else is gonna get what I worked for.....
That My Friend is about The End of Any Nation"

Ok, so now we're down to:
"Luck is the residue of design"

"If it weren't for luck I guess I'd win every one."

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. "My mother wanted me to go to Ohio State. My father just wanted me to go."

Too easy. George Burns...the cigar.

Mwaa haa haaa!!! You have fallen into my trap!! It was not George Burns, but rather his wife!!

George would set up Gracie (Allen) by saying "Say 'goodnight' Gracie." Then she would say "Goodnight Gracie!" :dnaughty
